Some manufacturer's of classd audio amps and other's use a similar smps PWM @ about
50% duty cycle and no output inductor(no regulation).Most are HB design offline..

The construction of the transformer is very important, if using an ETD type core set the primary current might require you to gap the core if not it will saturate quickly and result in the mosfet's overheating and fail.The rest of the design is a straight forward DC-DC converter design.
SMPS designers refer to this topology as a "dc transformer". its NOT a buck-derived converter, which is why there is no output inductor. startup is an absolute nightmare for this topology, but it does have the advantage of operating open-loop. there is a reason why buck derived converters have an inductor....
If one winds a really good transformer, has a top-notch layout (hint: this one isnt, but its a lot better than some of the commercial versions I've seen) and wicked low ESR output caps, the topologies inherent problems get much worse. I think the real advantage of this topology is that it works better when done badly. high leakage winding, planty of loop inductance in the secondary layout and a soft-start on the primary will give a circuit that actually works.

For 220V input AC can I modify input turns to 22-0-22 without any other modifications. This is a very nice design which I was looking for a long time.
