I’m looking around for some lower end / cheap PA drivers with decent performance in simple 2 or 3 way designs in combination with HF compression drivers for the most sensitive solution and possibly a small midrange of some sort which I can decide later. I’m looking at both 10 and 12 inch woofers, Klipsch Heresy and JBL43xx styles. Deepest bass is not necessary I’m happy with 50hz but I enjoy some body and power.
I have experience with Eminence coaxials and happy with those, and already have plenty of HF drivers laying around for this use. I have been looking more into the Eminence standard range Alphas, Betas, Deltas 10 and 12s etc, they get good review and seems like quality build but I don’t want to narrow my search to this.
I’m also considering Fane Sovereign series in particular 10-300 and 12-300, they are better priced in Europe than Eminence and I seem to get more for the money and I have good experience with Fane fullranges from earlier seems like quality drivers too.
Other brand that can get good prices on here is P.Audio and Celestion. The later is interesting, I’m wondering if their bass guitar drivers can be used for Kemal speakers as well? For instance the Pulse 10 and 12 looks very interesting.
Then out of nowhere a brand I have no experience with showed up while searching Celestion, Monacor? They have a few models that seems very interesting but I have no experience with them. A few examples is SP30/200PA, SP10A/302PA and SP-300PA which all looks fitted for my purpose just as much as the Eminence and Fane drivers I have been considering. Is Monacor a serious vendor and are their driver of good quality compared to its price and the competition here in Europe?
Are there other models in the 100-150 price I should consider? I’d like to have 94dB/w minimum in the area of 50-500Hz in a 40-50l box, preferably also flat up to 2k if possible so I can decide on midrange later.

I have not considered 18sound, BMS, Beyma, B&C, Faital etc because from what I found they start at 250 and increase fast? Any particular model you know that are lower price?

Hi, try search here for example Where the Transducer is the god !
Some Beyma, Celestion, Eminence, LaVoce, Oberton, RCF, Sica drivers there as well as Faital and B&C drivers and many others under 150€ in 10"-12" category. I've got no experience on these drivers so cannot suggest one. They seem to give discount if you buy two or more (on some drivers at least). Checked for example Faital 12FH500 you can get 139€ a pop when buying a pair.
Anyway, list some of the drivers in Excel to be able to sort by parameter, if you don't know which to buy already. I'd buy two best candidates for a project project, listen & measure, keep the one you liked better, report here in diyaudio. Have fun!🙂

Thailand has wide choice of PA audio manufacturers of competitive prices. Paudio is most famous in Europe. Boominators use an old model 10 inch, but very cheap.

Check the linked webshop, they sell Faital Pro drivers on very good price, for example Faital 12PR320 which is a highly praised driver amongst DIY-ers 121Euro/piece if you buy 2 piece. You may need an account to check the prices for more than 1 piece buy.

Those Faitals looks promising for sure, surprised at the price with a neo magnet and die cast frame usually more expensive.

I've owned / used about 15 P.Audio woofers and mids, and they have all been fine.
Only one had a manufacturing defect - out of a batch of four wideband drivers, one had a weaker magnet than the other three. It sounded the same, the frequency response plot was exactly the same, but the Qes and Qts measured a bit different and it was about 2dB less efficient.
Their woofers all seem OK. Any flaws are obvious, e.g. the cheap ones use stamped frames and smaller magnets.
Their budget woofers have a pretty high Qts - but this works fine in an appropriate design. I used a quad of their cheapest 15" woofers in a very large brick enclosure (about 4 cubic metres - built into the corner of a small factory), where they were great.
I've used the chunkier / more costly woofers for home HI FI (and still do).

I've picked up some 12" neo Faital drivers cheaply. They are good, and the FR plot I measure is very close to what is advertised.
Certainly worth getting if the price is right.
In general, they seem to build for a smoother HF rolloff than many brands (but also slightly lower efficiency).

When discussing 12"s it's hard to beat the Fane 12-300 cost/performance.I’m also considering Fane Sovereign 12-300

The Faital 12PR320 is slightly better for this specific application IMO, but if you want max value out of it you're looking at an around 100 liters anyway no matter which 12" you choose.
Sorry the 40-50l was in case of a 10”. The 12” option will most likely be 70l. 40x60x30mm inner, similar to the JBL and Klipsch in the original post. Seems I have a lot of options really but still I’m curious about both Fane and Celestion as they are very decent priced here and available locally (no tax). Seems no one have experience with Monacor, should I stay away perhaps? I cannot find any reviews either.
Its worth considering the Fane 12-250TC too.
I have two in a sealed box and they sound very good.

Monacor do have some drivers that are supposed to be good, but I have 0 experience with that brand.
If you're looking at Ljudia for local prices I guess the Fane 12-300 is a no-brainer (IE best choice per cost). Most of the Celestion drivers around the same cost are not well suited for vented enclosures.
70 liters can work, not much under 50Hz though.

The Monacor SP-10 / 250PRO is a gem for 100Euro's. Goes in a small box, 40L or so and have +- 7mm stroke. I listened to HIFI-PA 10/2 from HobbyHifi magazine, quite impressive output! The waterfall plot of bass driver is excellent and has a very low distortion for a PA driver.
