OTL-driving of very low impedance full range ribbons is and remains still a challenge.
Most reliable option for driving of such full range ribbons are power amps with single ended output power stage because the obtained output power is not dependend from the load impedance (current drive). From this view this is the best solution, because there is no risk for destroy the power MOSFETs in the output stage.
Unfortunately the output power from the largest me known commercial single ended power amp is the Aleph 1.2 - go to

If I want more output power in this kind, presently only a diy solution is the way, because such commercial amp units are not available.

Well, what happens in case of the use from the X/XA/XS power amp series?
As I know, in this models only push-pull output stages are in use.
This means, either a protection circuit switch off the signal to the speakers or several fuses blown away.

But what about an additional impedance matching transformer (1:4 until 1:8) ??
I know, the sizes and wight must be very large. OTOH - two great advantage I will get: an ultimate DC protect and the use of each power amp without trouble cause not uncontrolled signal current flow.

Who are suppliers and manufacturers of such transformers?
