So I'm quite liking my Telefunken RE074 neutro DC1938.

The tone is very good, with a more 'colourful' presentation, (not ugly ) than the CX301-A , with slightly more compression ...however it has this Nazi Swaastika printed on the tube.
.
Is it ok to use such a tube?

Ok so, If it was me and I liked the tube sound it has, then I would own it and keep it, but yah, I would rub off the stamp.

I have used opamps that were made back in the day for some early guided missiles, but they sounded great.

Well, it will sound fantastic if you use to play Wagner.

It will fail quickly if you try to play Rigoletto or anything Italian. It will fail somewhere just as the last movement gets going... AAAAAAAAAAAAA MOMMA MIaaaahh..... pfft... shhhhh..........

You may have to goosestep a little bit to bias it though.

Whatever you do... don't wipe it off. It's a historical piece. Sell it and buy some Russkie 6550s with the proceeds. I still have some Sovteks laying around.

Man, I don't know about the historical thing. Who would purchase that? As far as I know the Dutch would hate any reminder of being starved. It is probably Illegal to own in Germany and if you send it to the US it will likely be to a Neo Nazi. The least I would do is alter the swastika. Look at some of the remaining WWII birds for ideas.

Well… it says “wehrmachteigentum” on it… “ property of the wehrmacht” so, return it?😂

But seriously, though, it is a piece of history. It’s important not to forget our history, less we repeat it.

I would keep it in a safe place, or maybe find a museum who would be interested. It’s definitely a rare piece.

I had a couple of old Telefunken "Wehrmacheigentum" tubes with swastikas years ago, one UCL11 if I remember correctly.
Should have kept it and built a Woody Guthrie mono amp with it instead of selling it. "This machine kills fascists"...

Well, problematic or not, I'm sure we can agree they made it to last!

My late father was German and lost his first wife and child in an RAF air raid. He was captured on the Maginot Line and ended the war in a British prison camp, where he met and married an English girl - my mother.
Forgiveness and not being judgemental to others caught up by powers they cannot control goes a long way to reconciliation and harmony on our crowded little world.

Well, it is just an object. A rare one, but it only symbolizes what the observer brings with them. The people who made it were probably not Nazis, and it isn't evil. It wasn't made to kill anything. I would preserve it just the way it is. It is rare and many were probably destroyed just because.

Many people may look at a rifle or handgun I own and are afraid of them. They may judge me. I punch holes in paper. The gun is simply an object, intent rides with the person that holds it. Same for the tube or many other artifacts from any war. The observer is the one with baggage, not the object.

In Hiroshima and Nagasak bombs, there probably were some tubes, and perhaps generation of audiophiles used the same in their amps w/o knowing !

So devil is everywhere if you're looking for him ! What to say about the Noval6900 made for nuke missiles ?!

Maybe this big tube was made for the last outrage to Churchill if they had catched him ?!

One have to find now a true tibetanfunken tibetan tube with the svastika in the other sense....
