Weird washer on driver magnet

I took out the TangBand W5 out of the bedroom 3 way to do some tests

I found this strange washer attached to the magnet. Is this part of the driver somehow....?

It looks brass but is magnetic. I have hundreds of washer types in my shop but none of them look like this.

A little googling finds you some interesting info. Off centre ferrite magnets are more of a visual concern than electrical and are thought of as no big deal up to a point. As long as it’s working properly…

Ixnay, with what we read in some threads, I am never sure who is joking.
It should have been obvious.
Cheers.

I have never taken a driver apart, but UPS did it for me once upon a time. No washers found at the scene.

But you know, That idea that I have about the ball bearings might have to be used for hi-end. Of course, one could opt for the more expensive MKII, which would be tapered bearings. On almost a more serious quest, what would happen if iron powder were put into a plastic bag and placed on the rear of the magnet? I mean, under a certain condition would they make a pattern? I know they wouldn't but my mind won't let me stop and smell the roses.

... TangBand W5 out of the bedroom 3 way ...

Higly probable this washer has nothing to do with flawed TB quality control. Instead I guess it stems from your bedroom clutter. My advice would be to consult your cardiologist immediately, and don't forget to bring this washer along with you: These kind of washers are widespreadly used for the implacement securing bolts of pacemakers. Rarely, but typically these can get loose (and lost) while nightly inconscious chest scratching. And beware of DIY: Don't try to refit it by yourself, by no means !!!

No joking.
