Aside from the lower overall height of the enclosures, which I can understand why they'd need/want that in a studio environment, what are the pros and cons of this in a home hifi system. Examples being speakers like the Genelec 1234A, Adam A8H, Neumann HK310A...
The horizontal asymmetry makes these unsuitable for the LCR arrangement (just in case). However, there's nothing to prevent these from being used that way either !!!
I can't think of a pro. Con is likely nulls and other artifacts in the horizontal off-axis, which would be left to the vertical if not for the side-woofer layout. The Adam and Genelec look like they probably have low enough crossovers from the woofer to avoid too much of an issue off-axis while the Neumann has a directivity pinch at the 650hz xover (followed by a 1200hz bloom that makes it more of an issue than it has to be, but they do call it a "nearfield" speaker). Neumann is my pick of brands out of the three, for the record, but I'd rather have some other Neumann.
As for the Genelec, the mid-high assembly can be rotated, so you could try to distinguish…
