On topic: TY, GM!
Mine are '64 515B a true (mid/sub) woofer horn driver with closest, though not very, based on a previous GPA incarnation of the 515C, a great vented box (mid/sub) woofer, which had identical specs, but different sonics (Altec's S.E. distributor measured my (4) in '64 at an averaged ~20 Hz Fs, 20 ft^3 Vas, 0.2 Qts).
Fast forward to the late '80s and the specs changed a bit: http://alteclansingunofficial.nlenet.net/Thiele-Small.html

Sorry for the disturbance of your thread GM ( but reallt need some help from Scott)Thanks for the heads up re the site. Alas, outside my price range toobut for what they are -not bad, especially compared to some of the dross people get conned into paying thousands more for.
Tried to send you a message Scott, but could not. ( don´t know why)
Have seen you use the SS9300 a lot since 25 years back, and I need your help.
I have problems designing xover for the SS 9300.
It seems whatever I do I get a 3-5 dB dropp "knee" dipp at 5K.
Doing a diy with the Dayton 390ho 15 inch with SS 18M 4631T00 and the SS 9300
Xover-points are 230-ish, and 2400 hz, but I can´t make the SS 9300 to "flat" SPL at 4-5,5K
Im so frustrated at this point, 2 order, 3 or 4 order...resistor before driver, resistor after coil, rsistor before cap....It don´t seems to matter!
Have you any recomendations for my xover?
Best regards John
There will be plenty of people who can help better than me, but FWIW, if you can send the measurements to my email, along with where you're currently at, filter-wise, I'll have a look & see what I can suggest.
Is it already gone? I cannot get it. "invalid response" whatever that means? Can't provide a secure connection? Whatever THAT means, too.
Because the page being linked on such a big page like this one and being about an all-time-great like Altec, their page probably glitched out for a bit. Having such a post here, the search engine bots creating a lot of hits there too. It works for me right now, so maybe just try again or wait a while before doing that, it probably will work for you then too.
That got something to do with the SSL session or certification. Sometimes that just needs an update. Unless you're actually want to buy anything and just look at the page, you can just ignore that without any actual danger. Can't provide a secure connection? Whatever THAT means, too.
Thanks for your note. Just tried again and the same stuff. Maybe they realize I would not buy anything like how you would be treated at LYRIC HIFI in Manhattan unless you arrived with an entourage!
Maybe just try another browser, some handle it differently or allow you to skip ahead and taking the 'risk'.
No problem using Chrome, though I get a ~half screen size ad pop up that makes the GPA site all but invisible in darkness till I select its 'X' link.
Speaking of which, google mail noted that the BD conversation we were having hadn't been responded to for 4 days, so curious if too busy/whatever or didn't get my latest response. No biggie of course, just this made me wonder.Tried to send you a message Scott, but could not. ( don´t know why)
Oh, that's good! I mean, that's probably because the Google data kraken probably can't keep up with the myriads of posts it's meant to monitor!Speaking of which, google mail noted that the BD conversation we were having hadn't been responded to for 4 days, so curious if too busy/whatever or didn't get my latest response. Seriously.. what's the problem with your driver? There are shops which are able to re-wind your VC, fix the suspension (spider, surround). A recone-kit or direct cone replacement is often a problem on older or 'obsolete' drivers but there are a lot of things that can be fixed though.
