Friends, i need suggestions for small bookshelf enclosures for 4fe32 that i found in storage. I am thinking about making small travel system. I got mp3 player, small classD amp, even found tiny sub. Now i need something covering 150Hz up. Something for hotel room instead of headphones. Portable, cute...
For that application, I'd probably stick them in small sealed boxes, stuffed, and add a series cap to prop up the bass around Fc. Hornresp can simulate this.

Yes, that would likely be easiest and would work.
But it could be little bright. How about small tl to boost 100-200 Hz range. I think X did something like that, have to search for it.

The 4fe32 already have a slight rising response, so, better to put a BSC in there instead of a convoluted line. But it could be little bright.
Keep'em small, attach the sealed boxes to the mini sub, angle them slightly to the outsides, add a handle on the top. Voilà!
Yuk.
Sealed: 6 litres.
High Qts makes a reflex tricky.
A high-R miniOnken design in 6.7 litres (75 hz tunng) sould work. HighR vent pushes box aperiodic and works to tame the peak.

Sealed small box it is!
Thanks for feedback everyone.
I will see what i find in ikea, that may be nicer than what i would put together.

I don’t want to spoil your experience, because it’s a fun driver that punch way over its price tag, but I have an issue with the peak/breakup around 8kHz.
It’s easier to see in this measurement than in the data sheet.

The listening fatigue kicks in after a little while and I simply wants to turn the volume down.
What works for me, is a few thin coats of LTS 50 Coating liquid from Visaton.
On the 4fe35 I settled for 6 applications.

Here is your 4fe35, you can see lots of energy at 8kHz on waterfall and sonogram.

Oh, sorry for the confusion.
I used both 4fe32 and 4fe35 that share the same cone. But to be fair, it’s the 4fe35 16ohm I have tested the Lts-50 on.
The 4fe32 I used felt pads actually. That’s a not destructive test you can easy do.

I wish I took better notes..
I’m not even sure distance, gating, or anything.
But this is the evolution of adding two or more symmetricaly placed pads per measurement (I think). Each measurement are separated, and it’s not a big loss in sensitivity.

Can you give more info or a link with info of this mod please? The 4fe32 I used felt pads actually. That’s a not destructive test you can easy do.
I run 4FE32 (8 ohm) drivers in Tabaq (ML-TL) enclosures with a BSC. No sub needed. My sub is gathering dust. The Tabaqs are floorstanders, so not really travel speakers. But you can always fit some castor wheels to the boxes.
