Hi everyone, I'm posting this in hopes that someone has experiance with repairing head units.
I've had this head unit for some time but just last week it started to show this error after being powered up for only about a minute. With nothing else connected but positive and negative for power. I'm assuming with it saying "AMP Error" then it might have something to do with the internal amplifier. Is there someone that might be able to shine some light on this problem and make some recommendations. Thank you in advance.

There are some ICs that have a terminal that will trigger such warnings.
With no power and no speakers connected, do all of the speaker terminals read the same resistance to the B+ terminal and to ground?

i get the error with or without the speakers connected. The pictures were taken with only power connected
Have you pulled the cover to see what IC it's using for the power amp?
Does it produce audio before it goes into protect?

L prefix, inductors. The 'burned' spots look like dried-up fixative.
I can't find the service manual for free. The manual for the 2400 is available (are they the same) but I can't justify buying it for $17 since I'll never have any other use for it.

The inside of the IC should have either a thin plate or be bare. Touch the front of the IC and power up. Does the IC heat up appreciably before going into protect?
I'd say it heats up very appreciably! Had to remove my finger before 10 secs. That IC might be the problem, i'll get one ordered and get it replaced
For some of these ICs, the through-holes are VERY tight and even with ChipQuik, they can be difficult to remove without damaging the board. If yours are that way, cut the leads off at the body of the IC and remove the individual leads one at a time. I use a razor knife to cut them but a fine-tipped pair of nippy cutters will also work.

that's exactly how i removed it too, before i saw your post. I'm gonna work on my amp till the IC comes in
that worked out great. Replaced the IC and the error is gone. Head unit functions top notch again. My brother told me he didn't want it anymore and told me to throw it away when he took it out of his truck. I decided to see if I could fix it. $27 for a part and a little troubleshooting and I have a $300 Pioneer MVH-1400NEX. I call that a WIN!! Thanks for the help! Just wish my amp was so easy to fix!!!
