Hi, I am looking for replacements for 2SJ99/100-2SK343/344 Transistors
I've been searching for info on the internet but finding conflicting information.
I found someone recommending 2SK1058/J62s would be electrical equivalents, although the mounting would have to be modified, but elsewhere seen them listed as being Vertical Fets, so the 58/62s would not be suitable.
Checking the reprints of Hitachi datasheets, they don't appear to mention what type of fets they are.
Can anyone please help me out?

K1058 and J62 are laterals. Exicon is building them as new equivalents. Get them through Profusion.

I've got several Hitachi and Exicon Enhancement Fets.
I'll have to dig around and see if I can find any of the early Hitachi Vertical MOSFETs.

For what it's worth, a reference on The Datasheet Archive suggests the following substitutes:
2SJ99/100 ==> IRF9241, RFM10P15
2SK343/344 ==> IRF231, BUZ35, BUZ35A, MTM8N15, MTM10N15, PM1506M, SDT32, SFN231, UFN231
Not sure if any of those would fit electrically or even physically (TO-3), but you could try resolving the latter by switching to a different type of package (IRF ==> IRFP, MTM ==> MTH, RFM ==> RFG/H, ...).

2SK343/344 ==> IRF231, BUZ35, BUZ35A, MTM8N15, MTM10N15, PM1506M, SDT32, SFN231, UFN231

Hi Petoluk, thanks for the info. Checking availability and compatibility now.
It appears that the RFM10P15 would not be suitable, as it's an Enhancement fet.
I came across a currently available pairing, IRF240-IRF9240, I'm wondering whether they'd be suitable replacements IRF240-IRF9240?
