hi just got the above deck - ive got loads of headshell bolts but non the correct thread -any help please
I've never had an AR77XB but you probably need the same screws that were used on the XA and XB. I've attached a pdf drawing that shows the hardware that was included with XA and XB headhshells.
#3-48 screws may be a challenge to find locally but McMaster-Carr has them.

I've also attached cartridge mounting instruction from AR.

thanks ronaldw441 - it turns out 4-40 screws for original head - metric 2.5mm if using a replacement head
Interesting..... AR must have changed the headshell between the XB and XB77 models. I just re-checked some of my XA and XB headshells (I have 14 of them) & they definitely require #3 - 48 screws.it turns out 4-40 screws for original head
Hope you have a happy new year.
no i mean all original are #3-48 - sorry i got that wrong - i ordered brand new copy - best audio - they are 2.5mm - handy
would you happen to know original mat thickness - im on 3mm felt - as it affects arm angle - or what size do you use - cheers HNY
Good. M2.5's are easier to find then #3's, even on this side of the pond. I've seen the Best Audio headshells on Ebay. They look like a quality product. Much nicer than the 3D printed headshells.i ordered brand new copy - best audio - they are 2.5mm - handy
Good luck with your AR.
What cartridge will you mount or what is the dimension of the mounting slot as shown on the attached drawing? I'll see if I have anything useful (no promises).
HI your very kind to look for me - 5.25 mm for the cart - any above that i can trim - aluminum only many thanks
Here's a source for small fasteners:

Also, you can use brass screws or 303 Stainless Steel screws.

Me too. Usually 8 a year. 2 at my youngest grandson's birthday, 2 at the other grandson's birthday, 2 at Thanksgiving and another 2 at Christmas. Only had 7 last year (2023). Don't know what went wrong.......I don't always drink, but when I do, I prefer beer.
Unfortunately I have few aluminum #3 screws & I want to keep the few I have since half of my 14 AR headshells are without cartridges. Sorry I can't help.but i always use aluminum
