Hi, i have a SA electra amatur the 1st version, it was given by an uncle of mine, but one speaker has lost its tweeter, they said the coil gave in, where can i find a replacement or an original tweeter for it. Thank you for the help
You won't find a Esotar T330D replacement tweeter at reasonable price, because this is the Achille's heel of the EA1 and the replacement stock have been exhausted long time ago. It was very expensive even when it was still available. But you may be lucky and the crossover may be faulty instead. It is almost 30 years old, refurbishment is needed anyway. Some people have replaced both tweeters with a different, more recent one and tweaked the crossover, but I don't have first hand experience on this modification/repair. It may also be possible to repair the faulty tweeter.

I would start by measuring the crossover with a component tester to see if the fault is (also) due to a dried out capacitor. Alternatively, you may swap the tweeters to check if the tweeter is indeed faulty. The least expensive repair would then be the replacement of the tweeter membrane, on both speakers. Some knock-off replacement membrane for T330D are sold from China at very low prices, but I don't know how well they work. Unfortunately I also don't know what modern tweeter can be fitted on the EA1, I only heard the result of this modification a while ago, and it was good. The goal of that project was more a DIY improvement/modernization than a restoration. The cabinet is top notch quality solid wood, and well worth the expense required to put it back in service, either according to the original classic design, or with a new one.
Of course if your goal is a faithful restoration at factory spec no expense spared, then you may call your local Sonus Faber distributor, this brand does have a good customer service and I'm sure they will find a solution.

Hi sir, sorry for the late update, i found that the esotar t330d on my tweeter only the coil in the membrane was cut off, i research that they always replace tweeter on SA electa amator, and mine is also 30+ years old, saw domes available in china, i ordered a pair to test it out but havent arrived yet, still wondering if i could repair the original by just connecting the coil, but after trying. It sounded good BUT upon time sometime if doesnt sound, or it pauses. Maybe due to the connection on the coil membrane. I read others replace it with a DA D28af but upon checking it has 4 screws. Mine has only 3. Thinking still what to do. Found a esotar t330don ebay but its worth 1600$. Its really expensive. Im just thinking whats the best option to do. Either replace it or fix it with the china dome but maybe the sound would be ruined. Do you have any suggestion whats the thing to replace or do with them

Also sir these speakers have no crossovers inside the casing, its purely 2 speakers tweeter and mid. 1 is esotar t330d tweeter and the other is mw 180 sf by sonusfaber mid.

It's a simple (by design, not to save money) highest quality components crossover, but it's there.

The replacement dome is the easiest fix and does not change the driver look, so it is worth a try on my opinion. You can compare the repaired driver with the surviving original and draw a conclusion. The old original driver does not seems a good option to me. It may be prone to failure, or a rebuilt unit with a OEM membrane.
Ohhh… so theres a cross over. Its kinda weird because when i opened the speaker i cant see any but your right maybe its inside the resin. I need to check and take another look

I just saw that on AE there is a seller (no tie with him) who offers a pair of T330D clone-replacement tweeters for about 300USD shipping included.
No idea about construction/sound quality though, but since the domes are also made in China you might want to consider this option too.
Bought domes on ebay tho its made in china as well waiting for it to arrive dont know if the music changes… hope not
Hi guys, since my esotar t330d tweeter coil was cut, i tried connecting it with a wire. It sounds but it stops. Then since its already cut i tried to rewind the whole coil. It has the same problem. It starts and it stop. They said maybe the dividing network of the SF is broken. And the tweeter(rewinded) got broken also. Needs to rewind it again. Now. What i did is that i tried to use just a normal tweeter and it worked. Didnt stop. Now im confused what really is broken. Maybe the coil of the tweeter is that was replace is not comptible? And i plan to change the working tweeter on the other speaker. Just scared maybe the diving netwrok of the broken speaker will destroy the original tweeter of the other speaker.
Im thinking of buying a new esotar t330d but maybe if the diving network is broken it will destroy the new esotar t330d

First i bought the dome silk thats cheap from china relacement for its dome. Not arrived yet
While waiting…
Again i tried to rewind the busted tweeter but the sound keeps pausing… maybe coil and crossover isnt on the right connection
So…. Tried it with several kinds of tweeter, the crossover seems fine. Tweeter sounded good so this means the crossover is ok…
Now… i bought the china tweeter that replaces t330d…. Havnt arrived yet…
Upon waiting for all to arrive…. I found a brand new t330d esotar pair but its really expensive…
Well guess what… i just bought it…. Havnt arrive yet. This is to preserve the EA1
So…. All these are comming and i dont know still what to do.
Maybe ill fix old t330d when with the silk dome when it arrive…

I lost count of how many tweeters you finally bought: in case, you can return each of them, right?
However I believe that a wise thing is try to get the best value for money.
So first of all, no rush.
Then I would replace the dome first, calmly.
Then please let us know, without getting caught up in the urge to do.
Anyway, I also understand that having new tweeters to try may result irresistible...

Yeah thats what i would do, first replace dome with the china silk domes and test the sound.
If good, then stay as it is, if its bad, try the china speakers, same plan, stay if its good change if its bad.
Lastly change with the new t330d.
And maybe find an original t330d dome for the old ones to keep them for reserves.
