Good SIP OP AMP

I am looking to upgrade a 4558 SIP OP AMP in a tuner
cant seem to find a better one at any reliable source, the ones I look at have no inventory of good audio SIP OP AMPs
anyone know where I can get a better SIP op amp that isnt fake?
I could get one on eBay but I have no confidence that they are genuine

The SOIC8 to SIP adapter PCB and then a OPA1642 soldered on it is a very good solution. Just make sure to find out if the original SIP opamp had decoupling caps on the supply lines as this was often "forgotten" in the past and the opamps also were not picky. You won't get away with no decoupling with the majority of modern opamps.

Therefor the link in post #3 is a better choice as it adds pin 9 (GND) for decoupling the supply lines with 100 nF film caps close to the IC and you can use both DIP and SOIC8 opamps 🙂 Not cheap but they seem OK.

In old tuners the input/output caps are often electrolytic caps with a maximum value of 10 µF. Today you use Wima MKT caps with the same footprint which is a nice upgrade.

The totl Yamaha t-85 tuner uses njm2068 in a 9-pin sip. 9-pin package is now obsolete and replaced with the same part in a sip-8. No need to change them as they work and sound just fine
On the 9-pin package V+ is on the outside pins

I have looked for one but the sources I find them at I do not know if I can trust them to be genuine
can anyone recommend a KNOWN reliable source ?

It looked like you meant NJM2068. You won’t find SIP opamps at distributors as they are obsolete for many years maybe even decades.

1. The first sentence in post #1 indicates that you want an upgrade. As in “better than 4558”.

2. There are not much very good opamps in the SIP format. Typically “my first opamp” quality.

3. If they exist you won’t find them at reliable sources.

For these 3 reasons SOIC8/DIP8 to SIP adapters with current high quality opamps that are available at reliable sources were advised. That is 3 birds with 1 stone.

Mouser only lists NJM2132L in sip-8, like said above SIP-8 are old school packaging.
I designed a soic-8 to SIP-9 adapter with decoupling cap across the supplies for this purpose.
