Hello, im new here and i dont know very much about how audio things actually work. I was wonder if i can connect my subwoofer https://mtxaudio.eu/products/rtp12x2/ to my stereo at home https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/pioneer/a-303r.shtml (yes its old, but gold). just plug and play with a speaker cable or is that gonna fry everything ?
RTP12x2 seems to be a powered subwoofer with integrated amplifier.
It is expecting line level preamp signal to the RCA inputs
NOT amplifier speaker level output from receiver.
It might be possible to get line level output from your receiver
If the pioneer has pre amp outputs , or some sort of monitor outputs.

Thanks for fast answer. Im not exactly sure what you mean, I will add a picture and maybe you can explain in laymans terms 😅

You can get line level out of the “REC” outputs, but it’s pre-volume-control. Therefore impractical. Resistive pad off the speaker outs is the only option. This is what a store-bought powered HT subwoofer would do, when connected properly to the speaker outs. Try 2.2K series, 100 ohm shunt. If the sub needs more drive, reduce the 2.2K.
According to the manual listed above, that sub has both High Level Input and Low Level inputs.
So just hook up the speaker terminals of the Pioneer directly to the subs high level inputs using speaker cables.
And you will need a 12 volt power supply to run the sub.

A big 12v (13.8V) power supply if you want it to meet output specifications.
E↑2*I=W, input has to be bigger than output.

Keep in mind that if the power supply doesn’t have the amps to support expected output that clipping will occur.
