Help with XLR balanced potentiometer

I‘m trying to wire out the balanced inputs of my KGSSHV amp to a quad ALPS pot but I’m confused on how to do this right.

I’ve attached a schematic. I take +/- of each XLR input and wire for instance + to Input A, - to Input B of the ALPS pot. The output goes to OUTA, OUTB respectively.

Problem is I get a full signal out but I’m unable to attenuate the volume so there must be a thinking mistake on my side.

Do you know where I might be going wrong?

Make sure you are using pin 2 for output. If you are using pin 3 you won’t have much affect on output level. To test this turn the pot all the way up and if it goes quiet then they are backwards because you are shorting out the input.

Measure the pot to make sure it’s ok. Both pins 1 and 3, and 1 and 2. 1 and 3 should be constant while 1 and 2 should vary. It looks like the ground for channel A is not connected! That is the issue most likely. The grounds between each pot are isolated so each one must be used.
