CDM-4 spindle disc removal

just curios, but probably this question has been asked previously by many others DIYers, however I did not find any match regarding this topic.

I would like to ask if anyone of you managed and succeeded to remove the aluminum spindle disc from the spindle motor? Could you share your experience?

Based on my experience, I will keep the mechanism in the freezer for at least 24 hours, so the metal parts would shrink, and therefore creating a gap between the the spindle and the disc sufficient for me to pull the disc out. May be I need to spray WD-40 to help pulling it out.
I would avoid removing it by heating...

Any suggestion?

Maybe carefully knock out the motor axle from the top of the platter with a pin...?

Make sense, thanks jpk73, that means i need to remove the motor bottom cover to do so.
May be i can use a C clamp to force the pin pressing the spindle out, without knocking it, similar way to remove bearing.

Be very careful. You run the risk of distorting the platter eccentricity. You must be sure to apply very even pressure and on dead center of the driver axle. I use a fixture to do this.

I'd try experiment with coolant spray on either the motor+spindle or the platter.
Try to not apply any strokes to the axle, you could damage the bearing.
Btw. there's still the additional top cover (Do not touch the lens) on your CDM. Remove that too.
