Hi all,
I have this cd player with issue like this:
IT starts up normally when loading it with cd. Then it reads TOC but when pressing play it spins up and laser moves step by step without playing anything. I assume laser is ok since it can read TOC very fast. I have opened it and found a loose part, see picture.
Could it be my cause to fault?
It sits in the lifting mechanism in front.

Thank You for picture, it is exactly same. I have changed Laser and mecanism for laserunit. It reads TOC fast but do not read any tracks. Can not locate them.
In my drive there is a loose round part with some black/White fields on it wich i think is some counter for lift up/down function. Do You know if i should glue it or fasten it with a double sided tape so it want move. It can not be accurate when it is loose?
You are right the black/white ring should be mounted on spindle.
On the underside of the PCB is a IR led and receiver that is used for counting / or checking is it's is still rotating.
you problem could also be a warn out tooth on laws pickup
I had to change it.

I have changed the complete pickup included laser. Now it lifts cd pickup correct ly up/down and release cd normally. It reads TOC fast an correct ly but when i press play it can not track correctly. Did you experience this before?
