Any experiences here with this tube? Looks like decent triode curves. I am thinking of trying it on a build. As input gain and driver. Any opinions?
It seems to be an old tube. Suggest to check if it is still OK, say, no broken heater, no shorts and no lack of vacuum. There were used in older TRF receivers.
I am using the 6C6 as a driver in my Radiotron amplifiers. Wanted the vintage circuit that was close to a 310 tube.
If it is the American 6G6G you can expect a gain of about seven while it is triode connected. Originally designed as a low drain power output for American cars. The electrical systems were not very adequate at that time. In the 30s many cars had only 20A on a 6V system. At best, 30A.
Your tube might be a pull from WW2 military equipment.🙂

I've been trying the 6G6G in triode in my SE EL12 amp as driver tube. It's very nice, superior I think to the 6V6 in triode despite that tube's popularity. I compared it with the 37 which I have been using recently and though I prefer the more natural sounding 37 as a true triode, the 6G6G isn't too far away at all. So a positive recommendation here.
This looks to be quite an underrated tube. Available and cheap as well.

I have built a preamp consisting of c3g/6sl7(in srpp) for my phono stage feeding into a pair of 6g6g tubes in srpp (triode connected) I have used this amp for the last 15 years and not really heard anything i liked better than this- i tried a lot of triodes and mu stages etc but always came back to the 6g6g- sweet with lovely mids and not a crazy price- very under rated IMO I can send you my schematic if you wish- pm me
