Presenting thread here: SissySIT R.3

Schematic and pcb screenshot post #1 , plenty of pictures after .

Tips and Tricks thread - will open, sooner or later

Reading entire thread is advisable , same as inquiring any technical question there : Be sure that you are aware of all things electrical and mechanical !

THF51-S still available on fleabay , watanabetomoaki confirmed seller , also pras1701 - being member here

instead , 2SK182, 2SK180; anyway, everything in linked thread

Pcbs are made for UMS , mounting directly to heatsink

Do not hurry - read , think , ask and only when you feel that you want it and can make it , proceed ...... advice which I'm finding applicable on practically anything .

For anything else , write either here , send PM or directly to >zenmodiyaudio@gmail.com<

Prices are mostly dictated with small scale nature of operation (as always is case) and time/work involved in matching and soldering little buggers.

For ordering , contact me at above written e-mail addy .

If I have everything in drawers in moment of order , can ship in a week time;
If I don't have any of normal parts in drawer , shipping could be delayed up to 3 days;
If I don't have pcbs in drawer , shipping could be delayed up to 2 weeks;
If I don't have most critical part for getting in my neck of wood - CCS precision chips , shipping could be delayed up to 3 weeks.
All in all - you all know that ZM is slow, but inevitable :rofl:

Handy Addendum (in short : HA!):

-Cap Bank pcbs - set of 2pcs; dual rail, CRC (pads, if you want differential CLC), snap-in up to 35mm Dia, resistor and pads for LED, position for 10mm NTC connecting Audio GND to chassis;
-NTC pcb/ FW style Soft Start - set of 2pcs; each having place for 2 independent NTCs;depending of arrangement of primaries of Donuts you're using. you'll need either one pcb for two Donuts, or one pcb per Donut

HA! set is 25E more

see pics for HA!; lazy to search do I have photo of NTC pcb, but who cares

I'm having a hard time deciding which kit to build. I'm equally tempted by the SissySIT R3 and by the Old Soul. Seeing how rails and most of the components are shared - how about I build both in the same chassis and switch from one to the other? How would you recommend doing this? Switch the rails+signal from one set of fully populated PCBs to the other set? or find a way to put in a switch after the JFET buffer? or maybe after the transformer?

Boyz were doing that in few logical ways:

- one PSU case, separate amp cases, combined and used by choice

- one case containing one PSU and two amp sets, power lines (DC) being switched in some convenient way ( separate fuses in rails, faston connectors, etc.) while each amo having separate in/out connectors

first way certainly giving most flexibility

I can't give you recipe by my preferences - I don't have them - having few "Do Not Touch!!" amps, while all others being temporary guests on T-Bed(s)

It seems I got bitten by Super PapaBug

As Mighty ZM says there are many ways to do this.

I have build one PSU box (18VAC) and connect to the amps I have using PowerCON cables

Here PSU with Sissys

Best on your build

Bob

Mighty ZM - sorry to post this in your swap post but I know if I waited for a building tips thread I would forget😉

Wow, thanks for reminding me! I need to order some iron. Although, I might have the Jensen version - yes I do have a pair of JT-123-FLPCH. Those would work right?

I'll still probably look for cinemags though. Sad that it is easier to order for Don's in Europe, than find them listed in the US. Does anyone know if you can order them somewhere, or resort to actually calling them...

Yep yep, I emailed Cinemag to check on availability. It looks like they would be very expensive for a pair to go from California to Europe, and get shipped back over the pond to Alabama. It will depend on my mood at the time, I guess. Much less pressure since I have the Jensens.

I recently bolted a Jensen balanced to unbalanced box to my amp shelves. Using even good RCA cables Pre to Amp (~15ft) was giving me hum, more with higher wattage amps. Now with XLR cables from Pre to converter, and 2 foot RCA cables to amps, I get no hum, even with my ANK EL34 PP amp, which made me happy.

Paying attention to Zen Mod’s XA252 development, as it has balanced input option. But first SissySIT R3 + (praying) a group 3 VFET amp.
