My brother in law made a set of these and gave them to me years back and they are still the best sounding I've heard. Since then, Chris Venhaus has come up with a new silver recipe and removed this one from his website. Would anyone have happened to make these, or save the recipe?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Andersonix,
I remember reading Chris VenHaus' recipes many years ago. If you are interested in learning more about the CAT5 cables, it is available in the Internet Archive. Just follow the link.

No disrespect, but I'm not looking for the speaker recipe. My original post for line level interconnects.
Thanks

I've made a pair of those back in the days when I didn't know any better about audio cable requirements. If my memory serves, it uses something like 30 ga. or thinner silver wire and Teflon tape.My original post for line level interconnects.
I thought it's a good thing but after learning about what Hi-Fi is, I gave it away and made some interconnects with RG-59 cables and connectors by Canare company which cost less per cable than VenHaus stuff.
The moral of the story is, don't waste your time and money on those exotic cables because the standard cables that come with the components or cheap cables available on the market are already Hi-Fi.
If it's so good, why would VenHaus remove it from his website?
Wally Z,
My intention was to show the availability of archived content. If you go to Wayback Machine and enter "www.vhaudio.com" as the URL, it will show several snapshots of that web site stored over the years. With a little luck, the recipe for the interconnects you seek could be there.

I will definitely go with the RG59 cables if I can get my hands on some Belden cable without breaking the bank.
RG-59 I mentioned will work very well for interconnect cables. No need to spend more unless you are into the appearance of cables.
One of my Belden catalogs lists 20 different coax cables that carry the obsolete RG-59 designation. Some very suitable for analog RCA interconnects and some not.
And we should keep in mind, that it depends on the device construction and the kind of interference present if an ordinary coax cable is the best choice for the audio band.
