Just wandering if anyone has a different crossover for exactly same drivers arrangement dual 18w8531 and 6600 aircirc tweeter It can be 2way ,2.5 way or even 3 way. Not looking for computer simulations. Thx for reading my post
Nothing really wrong. Just not to my liking. I ve build many of zaphs designs and this is first one that is not up to par to my ears I know the drivers very well and I know level of performance they’re capable of and I’m just not getting that.
Maybe time to dive in and start to learn some crossover basics so you can have a play with what you have or try and design your own.

Have you heard these drivers or their combinations before?
How do you hear the ZRT, what's wrong to your ears?

I have eliminated all other possibilities it’s not the source material,or amplification. I’m not knocking down zaphs design or contribution to diy. All I’m really asking if somebody has a different (it may even turnout not to be better)crossover that I can try In my opinion this combination of drivers can do better or simply different and I would like try that’s all. If anyone can help great. Thx
To answer YSDR In my opinion imaging and fine detail retrieval is off. I feel it could be much better. I have built Jensen 1071 and all this aspects were much better somehow they are missing in this application of the drivers So I wanna try something different if it exists and I haven’t found it yet.
Well, the Jensen 1071 have a different tweeter (it is responsible for fine details, at least in the harmonic part of music, which is very important).
I asked because I used the 6600 tweeter and I had big hopes, tried to get good sound from it but after more than 1 years of experiment, I can say I didn't liked how it sounded. A good friend of mine who is big hifi and music fan didn't liked it either, no matter how I tuned it sounded boring and flat. So I replaced the 6600, I am glad I did.
Even a cheap Seas 27tffc have more sparkle and dynamism subjectively.

Hi ysdr. See it’s not even that I don’t think. Because when the music calls for it there is “sparkle” and presentation is fairly airy. I think for me the issue is in upper midrange frequency. I may be wrote. Just wanted to see maybe someone else has a different crossover with different approach to tuning it. Maybe just simpler crossover.
Ahh, okay! Anyway, my sound signature memories goes away since I don't use the 6600. The ZRT utilizes a relative low xo point, maybe a higher crossing and a waveguide (augerpro) can help in that case if you are happy with the high range.
I don't have another crossover for that combo but I think it's worth to buy some measurement gear and start to measure and create your own crossover. You would be less dependent on others, who can do measurements.

It would probably help tuning it to my own “taste”but I’m not sure if I have knowledge necessary. Maybe one day thanks for advice.
FWIW, Robert Bantly had to redesign his from the ground up in both xover and bass alignment to get his pair sounding right. This was likely 10 years ago.
I also have felt the upper mids lacking in the ZRT. I find the 18W better at bass/midbass than mids, and that the 15W does midrange better. That's just my opinion.

Hi Wolf. Any chance you have that crossover schematic? And I do agree with you about 15w. Much better midrange rendition. I ve build Troels jazzman speakers and liked them for a long time. Figured this was going to be the replacement/step up
You honestly cannot compare a 18cm bassmid to a 15cm bassmid. Directivity is quite different and anyone with moderate trained ears will notice that (imho it's not even 'rendition', whatever that may be). I wonder why you chose a setup with the 18cm Revelators.
We weren’t really comparing the two it was more of a complaint about shortcomings of the 18w But to answer your questions it’s really simple I don’t have necessary equipment or the skills to pull off a great design that’s why I asked for help. Maybe someone has a different crossover for this combination of drivers that may work better for me. To answer your second question it is also simple I had the drivers sitting on the shelf removed from other scraped projects and to my untrained eye ZRT looked good and having build other zaphs designs I tough why not? That’s why I’m searching for a different crossover perhaps just different approach. Built nice cabs for it and wanna give it another chance before I scrap it. Thx Peter
Did your digging for you, and this is all I can find on something more than 10 years back. Robert is no longer in the hobby:

Have you tried the tweaks that Zaph gives for midrange level and tweeter level?
