Hi there. I picked up this amp recently for next to nothing. It's a high power (approx 200W into 8) , single ended input amp. It's sounds OK, but lacking some fidelity in my opinion. I'm wondering what kind of amp uses all the same output devices? In this case MJ15024.
I'm also thinking it might be worth ditching the amplifiers and utilising the chassis and 500VA 2 x 45VAC power supply for another project. If so, any suggestions ? Cheers

Thanks for the info - could you tell me why this configuration is rare or unpopular? Do they have a particular sonic signature?
Back in the ol' days when it was much easier to manufacture NPN transistors than PNP transistors, they used this configuration. It allowed 'push-pull' operation without requiring a high power PNP. Now that high power PNP and NPN transistors are both available, the quasi-complementary config is less often used.

No idea what a "sonic signature" might be, but they have more cross-over distortion than symmetric schemes, all else being equal, although with a Baxandall diode they can be tamed somewhat.
Normally the word "sonic" is a strong clue that audiophoolery is involved, beware the word! There's nothing sonic about an amplifier, its a piece of electronics. Speakers, microphones etc are sonic transducers and the word belongs only there IMO.
