Wow! Now I see why my Stanford professor daughter has been bugging my wife and me to self isolate! We aren't getting close to anyone for at least 2 weeks, probably much longer.
Stay safe everyone!
Stay safe everyone!
Here are some out of the box things to consider.
Wuhan virus, sun, and fresh air:
Coronavirus and the Sun: a Lesson from the 1918 Influenza Pandemic

I'm under curfew here I've Austria, yay! Gonna spend some time on the balcony sitting in the sun. At least the weather should be fine this week.
Let's keep this visible.
Let's keep this visible.
The argument I've made since the start of this is that it's a lot better to play it safe than to wish you played it safe.
Yup.
I'm thinking I'll probably get around to all of the diy projects that have been piling up over the past few years! 😀

Why would I care what Tomas Pueyo or Medium have to say on the subject? Pueyo is a software developer and Medium is Medium.
With my limited knowledge in medicine, I believe that to create a paranoia and a psychosis isn't the best way to stay safe until those plague. There are lots of plagues by far more dangerous.
The Corona virus has been hyped up by the media. There are far greater killers out there.
If you are generally healthy, then the Corona virus is no more of a threat than common flu.
I would so love that to be true, please could you show what makes you think that is the case?
Stay safe and remember that what you do in this situation is likely to affect you AND your nearest and dearest the most.

Well if you actually read it, it makes a lot of logical sense, based on facts and figures. I like facts and figures to form my own opinion.
There's a lot of people here that swing a mean solder gun but have no clue about virology or epidemiology. Should I follow their opinion ??

This mentality needs to die and need to die NOW. It's so hideously wrong and myopic.
Not true if you look at the stats, this years flu for >70 year old healthy people is far less of an existential threat than COVID-19. Second and more importantly: we as a human population do not have immunity to this disease, which means it is spreading unchecked. You personally may be fine, but what about the 5 people you inadvertently infect? Are they going to all be okay? Or the 25 people those 5 (and on and on).
Exactly. Based on what you suspect about my medical knowledge you shouldn't trust my compilation of Google search results either, no matter how well intended. There's a lot of people here that swing a mean solder gun but have no clue about virology or epidemiology. Should I follow their opinion ??
Not agree guys, The chinese reaction about confinment WAS and IS the best idea : it works and reduce greatly death numbers.
Epidemiologist if nothing is made plan at worst while not being sure :0.8% of death (all the population, yeah that's could that terrible) in a european country (let say Western), it's from a Royal College professor. Social distanciation greatly reduce this number.
I link another interview : I’m an epidemiologist. When I heard about Britain’s ‘herd immunity’ coronavirus plan, I thought it was satire | William Hanage | Opinion | The Guardian

Keep dreaming. It'll catch up. And like someone else said... you probably will survive it, but will your parents or friends? The Corona virus has been hyped up by the media. There are far greater killers out there.

Lots of people are not “generally healthy”. You may be, but if you don’t take this seriously then you are basically saying “I don’t care that people who are not generally healthy will die, even my family and friends.” Many, many people who aren’t “generally healthy” can live many years if something like this doesn’t come along.
So how you analyze this may be an IQ test, we the healthy ones should change our behavior because if we don’t the disease probably won’t kill us, but we will help spread it to others that it can kill.
Also, It’s considered a good thing to care about others in many societies. It’s called empathy

The made-up pretend disease in the novel can’t live outside the body for more than a minute and is “fungus-like” so clearly not like this Corona variant.
40 years ago, the guys "kindly" announced a new virus from Wuhan in 2020.
The book "The Eyes of Darkness" published in 1981........

+100!
I'm old, but don't deserve to die just because some people choose to believe this is just "a flu."
According to the CDC, for those patients between 50 and 64 the death rate from the flu is around 0.06%, for COVID-19 it is around 8.0%!
For those 65+ the numbers are .83 for the flu and 14.8 for COVID-19!
Get your heads out of the sand people!
