Hello all !
For some time now I have been pondering the concept of a 12" TH, I have also noticed several threads poping up regarding 12" TH's, so why not make a contribution ?
A coupple of weeks ago my good friend Johannes Rodin really kicked it off by sending me the spec's for the Beyma 12P80Nd driver, and this driver became the base for the development, but then I realized that it was rather expensive.
The THAM12 is roughly half the size of a THAM15, but it should still provide a good alternative to the other great designs out there, especially if you are after a very compact solution.
Thanks (again) Johannes for providing great ideas and helping out with the balancing of different driver proposals.
This is the THAM12 :

Thanks Thawach, and thanks for sharing your findings, I'll look into these drivers aswell.
I have also heard that the JBL GTI1200 (carwoofer) and Beyma 12P80Fe works fine in the THAM12, good news, it seems my goal of making one box fits (all) well most of them 🙂 is well on its way to be realized 🙂
Anyone else got any good candidates not allready discovered out there ?

I'm looking to try Beyma 12BR70 with THAM12, but I have no idea how to simulate it with hornresp. I'd like to know if it'll work, so if somebody is willing to simulate it, here are the specs:

I ran it and it did not look good. Sorry, please try again. 😀 In your defense I've not found much that works in it myself (besides the recommended ones). See if you find something with smaller Vas around 50L.
The price goes up as the Vas goes down. So basically this horn needs these kind of drivers due to its size?
I think so. If cab size if not critical, the THAM15 is VERY driver friendly. A properly loaded THAM12 is crazy good considering it size IMO. So it's size vs price...
Cheap 15" are in the same price range with good 12". Other than that, I don't think I have space for tham15. It's a room sub afterall.

Do a nice BR for a room sub or maybe you can find a 10" that works. SM-110sn was decent and 10BR60 not bad.
I wonder if a 10 inch with a smaller vas would work in a tham12. Or maybe the horn diameter was calculated for 12 inch.

Yes, a 10" will work. Not sure if those drivers in post 9 are affordable to you or not but they simmed OK. Vas of 10BR60 is 47l...
I don't think 10BR60 is available anymore. I only find 10BR60V2, which has a Vas of 108l.

The other one you mentioned... is this one?

Vas 65l.

Yes (I think 😱😀); To be clear, the sim for the SM-110n (black) has a more flattering response than the 10br60v2 (grey). The 12BR70 was even more peaky than the 12br60. Hope this clears that up. That said, you do realize that the 12LX50V2 (original spec driver) will take tons more power (400w) to xmax compared to these 10" (50w) and have 10db+ more output/be over 3x louder, right? Should be fine as it is not PA and just a room sub.

Thanks for clearing everything up! Yeah, the room is pretty small anyway (4 by 4 meters), so I guess a 10 inch would be enough.
