I bought some from Jim. Thanks, Jim. They had a tight fit initially om my 27GT5 tubes, but with a little Caig Progold G5 on the pins they slipped in and had a good grip. Thanks for importing those. Certainly worth the asking price.

Would you be so kind and provide the information on who made them for you, so I can contact them to get some Novar sockets made for myself? Just can't do the price gouging of that dude on eBay wanting 15USD a piece without mounting hardware. Thanks

Thank You Jim. I am currently waiting for a reply on shipping to Jamaica from them. I only can get the PC mount You got from them, they say they can not do chassis mount due to hardware fitment issues, but I am thinking to get small circuit boards made to convert the sockets to chassis mount. I hope it comes through. I just ordered a bunch of dirt cheap Novar sweep tubes for an amplifier with series filaments across mains with damper diode voltage doubler to build a transformerless power amp in a double insulated chassis. I know you guys here do not promote that, but in Jamaica people have only little money and double insulated chassis with high quality X2 coupling capacitors on the line inputs with plastic shaft potentiometer should be safe enough inside a double insulated chassis.

I also ordered 1mm PINs from Amazon to make my own sockets using 1/2 inch thick fibre glass blocks I have by drilling holes and use epoxy to set the PINs into it. There are just too many dirt cheap Novar tubes being wasted because the only seller who has Novar socket stock is price gauging, demanding 15USD a socket with missing mounting hardware. If I have to buy 6 sockets per amp, the socket cost would exceed the cost of ALL other parts needed to build the amplifiers, inclusive OPTs. Go figure...

Well, very very bad news. After I emailed with the manager of the tube socket factory and identified the March 2023 order for reference, I was told they can not ship to Jamaica. Any further inquiry has been ignored since. No more replies! So I guess unless you are American, live in the USA and want to pay a 145% tariff, you have it even harder getting your hands onto Novar sockets! Stan at ESRC I hear has passed on and he was the only one with new production Novar sockets and that info of the source went with Stan. The 15USD per socket at that notorious auction site, makes building with Novar sockets from a single seller, who knows it and scalps you hard for it, economical absolutely not feasible. Who wants to spend 100USD on 6 novar sockets for an amp? Makes no sense just for sockets... Any Americans here who might order some for themselves at a point and willing to sell me a bunch off their order or maybe go in for a 200 piece order and split the order and then willing to ship my loot to me with affordable shipping?

Porcelain bodies of the PCB mount I had made can use these brackets for chassis mount-

I acquired some of these by mistake, so included them w/ the custom Novar socket orders when requested- no complaints. Not particularly strong, but work, and cheap enough to replace. I'd advise bending the PCB pins in a bit tighter circle to give more clearance from bracket.
Pic below shows bracket on chassis mount Magnoval and my custom Novar sockets-

ps. perhaps someone from a European country could succeed with a shipping request? ;<))

Jim, even from Europe it is difficult to get anybody to ship to Jamaica. Since Covid19 it is extremely difficult to get things to Jamaica. After the pandemic we started to use USA freight forwarders, because the whole world still can ship to USA, but now with Trumps tariffs that is not a feasible option any more. 30USD for a Digikey order of capacitors made by Panasonic but in their Japan factory: 20USD in tariffs added to the 30USD then to Jamaica, import duty 50 to 70% on electronics, fees and on top 16.5% consumption tax on it (on full product price + tariffs + shipping cost combined). Certainly the most expensive capacitors by the time they reach your place of residence in my case. However, I just bought 100 Novar sockets NOS Cinch at 5USD each. Best price there is compared to 15-25USD each at other sellers. Your manufacturer stopped talking to me after he informed me that he can't ship to The Carribbean... Thanks a lot for your help!

Unfortunately it has become like that during and after the Covid19 worldwide shutdowns. It is hard to get a Chinese seller or manufacturer to deliver to Jamaica. If you find somebody to do it, one smaller shipment reaches and the following larger order can't find a way here and the sender used the same exact carrier. I have to ship a lot of things to the US first to have them then forwarded to here at high additional cost since the only freight forwarder I know is reliable, only uses air freight, which is pricier than ocean freight in a shared container. More wars in the world make it harder to move things around too and US tariffs don't help either, other than shutting down global trade...
