LinearX Leap 5 Software Installation Files for 64/32bit Windows (Crossover Shop, Enclosure Shop & Filter Shop)

Hello everyone,

As mentioned in an old thread from years ago, running this program on newer Windows versions is nearly impossible. Additionally, the original installation files are no longer available on the official website and you can no longer purchase it.

After searching through my dad´s old computers, I found .iso files of the program and was able to make it work NO USB KEY needed. This has been tested and confirmed to work on:
  • Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit)
  • Windows XP
For proof, I recorded a short video demonstrating all three programs running on Windows 10 (64-bit) -> Video link

Installation Steps

  1. Download the "LinearX Leap5 + FilterShop.rar" uploaded to Google Drive. It contains two folders: "LEAP" and "FilterShop".
  2. Extract the .rar file and move both folders to C:/Program Files/.
  • Inside the "LEAP" folder:
    • LEAP_XVR.exe → Crossover Shop 5.1.0.334
    • LEAP_ENC.exe → Enclosure Shop 5.2.0.350
  • Inside the "FilterShop" folder:
    • Fshop.exe → Filter Shop 3.4.0.808
You can create a shortcut for each executable by right-clicking the file and selecting "Create shortcut" to place it on the desktop.

Important: Fixing the "System Error: Number Decimal Symbol is Not a Decimal Point"

Before opening the programs, it is necessary to change the decimal symbol in Windows from a comma (",") to a dot ("."), as the software requires this setting to function correctly.

Steps to change the decimal symbol:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Clock and RegionChange date, time, or number formats.
  3. Click Additional Settings.
  4. Find the "Decimal symbol" field and change it from , (comma) to . (dot).
These steps apply to Windows 10, but the process is similar on other versions.

To simplify the process for everyone, I decided to upload only the necessary files—this way, installation is as easy as copying and pasting folders.

Greetings from Argentina!

Thank You.
I bought LEAP5 when it came out. Had been using 3&4 before that.

I still have the dongle and a working WinXP machine but it's a pain to use that combo nowadays....

Now I just have to copy some 23 years worth of design files . . .

This is amazing, thank you guys so much, its like finding a lost friend!

I'm running win 11, I did not see an option for changing the commas to periods in the date menu so I just changed them manually and hit apply, not sure if this is the correct way to do it but I am not getting any error messages.
So much fun, thanks again!

Geoffrey

Thank you so much for this generous and extraordinary addition.
I have the original LEAP5 Crossovershop running on my 2006 HP under Windows XP with USB key and all.
Every time I start it up, I fear something will not run correctly, or that by accident the key gets broken.

By your effort I now have the possibility to run the program for the foreseeable future on more modern machines.

Thank you 😊

@swy00, thank you very much!, muchas gracias!

This is great, it will allow running the programs in a modern PC, I was keeping an old one just to do it.
Some years ago a friend of mine lost the USB key to run Leap and the company asked him almost full price for a second one and it was not a cheap program, I was always afraid of loosing mine.

Thanks a lot!

Is this legit? I have not seen anyone else post here that has installed this version of LEAP. This is a really great thing if legit and not carrying a malware payload. Ordinarily I would not support using a hacked version of intellectual property that took someone thousands of manhours to create but given that the creator has passed away and the USB keys can’t be replicated I would like to try this. Incidently, I am one of the original purchasers of LinearX software and hardware. I bought one of Chris Strahm’s LMS systems shortly after he released them. I also own a legal copy of LEAP with USB key. I do worry that one day the key will fail.

Yes Legit but I just dove into it and with win 11, enclosure shop is repeatedly crashing, no error code, maybe a open GL issue? There might be some graphics functionality not working as well, I will reach out to the person who posted I also personally posted a LEAP 4 crack but I just found errors running that as well, we are working on a remedy

We are in the same boat

Yep , I own both versions as well as LMS, as simple as LEAP 4 is, it's perfect! Does everything you need and does it well . Ver 5 was modernized and does some amazing modeling but it becomes academic and unnecessary to have that much data IMHO, I got ver 4 in 1995 and designed several dozen systems on it using LMS, Chris was a genius! I reached out the the fellow who posted 5, I still working on 4 but getting some internal program errors, possibly memory issues, had to create a virtual machine around a DOS environment, have a friend helping me, I design speakers damit!

I am going to try loading swy00 version on a 32 bit XP machine to see if it runs on that without errors. I don’t care about running it on a modern machine as long as it runs on something I own and can easily replace. Right now, I have my legal copy of LEAP running with no issues on Windows XP 32 bit machines.

We have similar history, but it is hard to me to get rid of audio stuff...
I started with IMP, then Laud and then Praxis back in Argentina. I only sold the IMP because it was too basic.
When I moved to USA I was able to get other systems, I currently use Audio Precision and Clio regularly, but I was also given a MLSS system and a Crown Techron as presents by a friend which I never used.
Finally in COVID times I was lucky to get an LMS board in eBay plus a PAC IV interface, I tried them and they worked OK, but I do not use them yet, they are on my bucket list, I think that LEAP + LMS will be a perfect marriage!.

As I mentioned to gdillon in a private message, there are some incompatibilities, most likely related to graphics driver issues or memory access errors. If the crashes are too annoying, the most reliable solution is to run the software on a 32-bit Windows XP virtual machine. It can be a bit of a pain to set up at first(with the shared folders and that stuff), but once it’s running, it works quite well.

I am running both EnclosureShop and CrossoverShop on a Thinkpad T440p. Operating system is Windows 10 and both programs works as expected once you remember to set comma separator to dot.
I have only encountered one issue so far in CrossoverShop and that is, that exporting graphics does not work. Error message comes with som dll issue. I haven’t followed up on that, as a screenshot is as more or less as precise as the original export function.

I do have an old HP machine running Windows XP with CrossoverShop working flawlessly as always, but I’m so afraid that the USB-key one day will break or otherwise malfunctioning. So this solution is really a great way to overcome this fear.

As for the intellectual properties rights I can only comment on, how it works here in Denmark.
When a company ceases to exist, the IP rights goes back to the owner, if the closing down was without creditors and thus in solvency.
If the company was declared bankrupt, IP is held by the lawyer, who is closing down the company, and can be sold off to the highest bidder, if there any interested parties. If no bidders - then the claim for IP is held by the bankruptcy until full closing is in place and company no longer exists. When that is the case, then the IP and thus LEAP5 is free as no one holds the rights to IP.
I don’t know, if it works in the same way in the US, where LinearX was accredited.

Another solution is to use a cheap older XP machine and dedicate it to running LEAP. I just did that with an old HP Elitebook 8470P i had laying around. It was designed to run Windows 7 but I have been able to load XP on it and it is running LEAP with no issues. I used something called the Windows XP Integral Edition which is still being maintained and updated by someone not affiliated with Microsoft. You can find it at zone94.com. The ISO file can be downloaded free. If you it useful, donate to "buy him a coffee” as he suggests. The only issues i ran into were finding drivers for video, internal audio, and wifi. Video drivers are still available directly from intel. Drivers for intenal IDT audio chip are not available. I am just using a Behringer UCA202 USB DAC. Cheap and much higher performance than the IDT audio. Could not find drivers for the internal wifi so I bought a USB wifi dongle that works well. With a solid state drive, the machine is not slow. I use it with an external monitor.

I should add that I get additional benefit out of this solution. I have some old Zapco mobile audio DSP and amplifiers with internal DSP. Zapco never updated the software to modify settings so this laptop also is used for that.
