Suggested listening: "The Rest is History" -- they just did a 4 part series on the lead up to 1066. (Now they are working over Peter the Great.)

Languages evolve over time. I remember reading about an experiment where 2 groups of people speaking the same language were separated for a generation or more, and when reunited, had difficulty understanding each other's speech.I'm like, get over it, dude. Myself and everyone else know's that word's change with the time's. Your just a dinosaur. 😉
English is spoken and written in many countries, and in some cases it has had centuries to diverge from the original. Yet, as far as I know, all of them still use apostrophes to indicate possession, not plural; and in no case does "your" mean "you are".Languages evolve over time.
If they were mushy peas, I hope they had lashings of mint sauce on top.without a mouth full of hot peas.
One of the few green things I'll eat.

It is if you count Wisky as 'water' 😎
Your statement has some credence since whisky in Scotland is called 'uisge beatha' meaning the 'water of life'.
P.S. I've yet to try a Welsh single malt, a tipple that only acquired geographical indication accreditation as recently as July 2023.
So I gather!
Penderyn distillery revived the Welsh whisky industry, being responsible for the first whisky commercially produced in Wales for a century.

They did a pretty good job there
When I first saw the page it said "Tariffied". They must have taken out the second "i" after I posted. . . . . Well no, I didn't have my glasses on but there were sitting on the table right next to me. I could have used them if I needed to.
That the IT also changed the image I posted is going a little too far. Something doesn't add up. Who did you say you were?

James Burke - Connections
James Burke was part of the BBC team that covered the Apollo missions.
He said NASA gave the BBC team full cooperation because it asked sensible questions of the astronauts such as "What is involved in a mid-course correction manoeuvre?" rather than the home-spun "What did you have for breakfast?". 😀

Originally produced by The BBC, Connections was filmed in 77-78 and first aired late '78.
It's some of the best television ever made. Highly, highly recommended if you haven't ever seen it. Although now seemingly quite dated in some aspects, it really isn't as Burke had a penchant for seeing the direction things were going, and all of the bits that were brought through his program from history to "today" (albeit most of 50yr ago...) are still critical parts of our life and world now, some a few iterations in.

Great series .... even better "Civilisation" with Kenneth Clarke --- although both the BBC and PBS would be loathe to produce such a series today! The
