WTB Tube amp in UK

Wanted to buy
Looking for a first tube(valve) amplifier to see what the hype is all about. I currently run a Lesboxed Yaqin Pre on my turntable and would like to try a tube amp for the speakers too. I'm in the UK and am not looking to spend huge amounts.

Keep in mind the nominal impedance of your speakers & compatibility with amp chosen, Most valve amps have 4, 8 & 16-ohm taps but some do not with 8 & 16 only. It won't damage amp if you hook-up 4-ohm speakers to 8-ohm taps but it's not optimal. Don't rule out sorted vintage either, some fantastic ones from Pye, Leak, Radford, of course QUAD and many others, all UK made. Depending on your skill set, try and audition it first so you know it's in good running order. If a vintage amp has been properly gone thru it will be set for a long time. But it should be free from hum, crackles, or other obvious noise. And don't rule out a well built DIY amp either. But if you do go that route you want to see the inside wiring and assess how well work done.

Good Hunting!
