I watched it without knowing the content. I enjoyed it a lot and the 'midnight-movie-madness ' ending was a treat. Demi did well indeed and the close-ups on Quaide were damn near disturbing but I enjoyed it all. I watched it again shortly after seeing it. I'll probably watch Substance a few more times before I'm done with it. And how about Hollywood's new Girl Friday: Margaret Qualley? She's holding her own. I adored her in My Salinger Year.

@jean-paul: If you do not like musicals or near-musicals, don't force yourself to watch it. To tell you the truth, there are no blockbuster songs or musical moments in Perez (I am an old fashioned person who likes Roger and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Gershwins, Lerner and Lowe, etc.).

It seems I am not the only one waiting for new "The Big Lebowski (1998)" like quality movies instead of the endless remakes and pointless superhero trash. Or like "True Romance (1993)". I can not believe it either but I saw "American Psycho (2000)" for the first time last weekend. A film you sure have to think about. The nineties were a very good time with regards to movies.
Margaret Qualley was very good in Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood (2019)". Well, all actors seem to have had a great time themselves in that movie.

That film is an absolute riot. Gary Oldman was amazing. So was Saul Rubinek. So was Val Kilmer. A delightful hit after hit with the characters. I'm glad Tarantino sold it to Scott. Let us not forget to mention James Gandolfini, wow, he put on a good show with Patricia Arquette. My wife loves that movie. I'll guess that I have watched it in full, over twenty times.
Once Upon a Time... ha, that gave me a good laugh. My oldest brother thinks it is the best movie.
My Tarantino story is: My co-worker used to work in a movie rental store. He and the owner of the store were tight and they loved cinema. So the owner keeps giving my co-worker screener tickets to see movies before main stream release. We get tickets to see Pulp Fiction and there were no reviews, nothing, no info except this dude Tarantino is on fire in Hollywood. Well I near shat my pants in the theatre watching that movie. I was clapping and standing up and cheering and screaming when I saw Pulp Fiction. So many people got up and walked out in disgust. When Vincent Vega plunged that giant needle into Mia Wallace's chest, the theatre went nuts but it cleared out a solid 30 people or more—such a joyous experience.
Lena Olin was outstanding in that flic. She received one crappy nod for that masterpiece. Roy Scheider was cool to see in it and even Ron Perlman had a bit role. Ha.

Ron Perlman accepted a role in “Moonwalkers (2015)” which he did very well as he carried the movie. IMHO a terrific but underrated movie. Real funny moments. Quite good acting by many and surprising elements. The piglets in disguise 🙂

Ron Perlman was a standout in The Name of The Rose(1986). Ha Christian Slater again...True Romance. Dude we're going in circles here. Aha.
That movie had a lot of great things going for it, but was too far from the public's interest. Another film I have watched no less than 20 times, tongue to tail.

Does not happen that often but I watched Bird (2024) 3 times in the past weeks and I think it is a masterpiece. It catches you in a special way. Without really knowing I immediately knew it is made by a woman.
