Surprisingly given how completely Detroit rock radio burned me out on this band, Led Zeppelin - Mothership.
And a delightful twist:
Yes, it did take a few years to clear my mind... they were truly over played in the 70s.. to the point that the reaction was punk.
But after a few years, I started to truly appreciate how good they were.
For some reason, this just popped on my mind.
Good times, bad times
You know I've had my share
When my woman left home
For a brown-eyed man
Well, I still don't seem to care
Being Valentine's, I should be a bit more up tune...
The way you squeeze my lemon, ah
I'm gonna fall right out of bed
Bed, bed, bed, yeah
Now playing: some 1990's Nigerian Afrobeat by what is probally the best drummer in the world: Tony Allen. Mostly known as the drummer of Fela Kuti in the 1960's and 1970's, but he got a whole catalogue of solo work also, that is almost as good as his master....
This is the "Black Voices" album from 1999

Likewise, though it took much longer here to recover from a seamless decade of StonesGeilsZep....to the point that the reaction was punk.
^ The very late 70s and early 80s were actually a great time for music.
( We used to go to Hollywood to watch all kinds of bands ).
The king called up his jet fighters
He said, "You better earn your pay
Drop your bombs between the minarets
Down the Casbah way"
As soon as the Sharif was
Chauffeured outta there
The jet pilots tuned to
The cockpit radio blare
As soon as the Sharif was
Out of their hair
The jet pilots wailed
Sharif don't like it
Rocking the Casbah, rock the Casbah
Sharif don't like it
Rocking the Casbah, rock the Casbah

Alice Cooper - Easy Action
A real blast from the past! I’d not been paying attention but he released his last album “Road” at the age of 75 in 2023. Not listened to all of it yet but sounds remarkably good one track in!
I like lots of his stuff, but those first two albums are gems. Very much not for everyone though!

Vivaldi's "Juditha Triumphans" -- Magdalena Kozena. This is a must have recording when you can sit back and listen. Kozena is a wonderful mezzo!
Great youtube of Kozena doing Bach:

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic. Interesting album, certainly worth an end to end listen always. The song "Maggot Brain" has some of the best guitar work ever recorded ( Dewayne McKnight truly shines on this one ) and creates an incredibly evocative atmosphere for an instrumental.
