So when I "inherited" a Nikon 200mm F/2 VR II I just had to step up my game and go from the APS-C D7100 to the full frame D750.
I'm glad I did but I feel like the mirrorless have a major advantage for autofocus.

I forgot to mention that I picked up a nice FM2 body in the same trade that I got my two Konica rangefinders. Now I have a fully manual backup to my FE. The 50mm F/1.2 is my lens. Everything seems to be fully functional on the camera. The +/- LED meter is similar to a Leica M6 and I must say, I am not crazy about it compared to the moving needle on the FE. The needle shows you how far off you are and allows mental exposure comp. LED is kind of annoying by comparison.

Nice, with great range. Too often, black & white, particularly converted digital, is a world of grey. This shows how it should look.
I sort of got 'back' into photography when I needed to get some product shots in the bag when I started up my cable-making business a couple of years ago.
I'm no expert and my gear is middle of the road stuff but I'm finding it quite enjoyable to achieve half-decent shots.
I'd love to be able to find the time to further my skills but Chris Cables is keeping me way too busy unfortunately (thankfully).

I am in need of immediate emergency assistance. I want a digital Monochrome camera 😭
Also been debating a pocket camera and or one converted to monochrome but the conversion price is awfully spendy. I looked at the Fuji X100VI but there is surely a healthy wait and it is not going in a pocket... Pentax has a Monochrome that is fairly stunning but I feel like everything cost too much.

Real photography is analog. taking your shots on film...developing yourself...going into darkroom and mixing chems... print your own pics... Focusing your enlarger... Dodging or burning in your exposure and then watch that image slowly fade in under the safelight... that was photography! I've completely given up since digital.. Setting at a computer replacing all of above is just another long winded computer task. Blah. I bet you could setup photog and darkroom clubs and people would love it.

I've still got my black and white film equipment (cameras and darkroom equipment including two large format enlargers). Come to think about it, I've got a few rolls of undeveloped 120 film also. I should get going on that.

I know that they skip the Bayer mask but isn’t it close enough to take your RGB photos and convert to B&W with a click of the mouse? I suppose the sensitivity and dynamic range goes up as well as the spatial resolution.
I often program a function button on my camera to switch to B&W.
The Nikon Zf has a dedicated B&W button.

For me, black and white photography is not about the numbers, but the overall artistic effect. You can take great pictures with almost anything. Actually, you could say the same thing about colour photography.
So I just loaded my 1963 Konica Auto S with a 24 year old roll of Fuji 400 color film. I wonder what I will get when the prints come back?

Today, there is expectation that the machine will do everything for you.
We go to the “Lightroom” now, not the darkroom after we take our digital photos. Many people scan their negatives and then do the rest of their work in Lightroom.
There are python scripts that will let you run and process your camera’s raw files and batch process a whole bunch of files with color corrections, contrast adjust or conversion to B&W. The python scripts are free.
