Forgive me, I have to list several. I consider these entire albums to be superb and meant to be listened to entirely. I have been a crazy music fanatic since the times when our stereo still played 8-tracks. Today my collection is in excess of 7,500 albums.
When I say I love this first artist, I cannot understate that fact. I have met few who have heard of them, and fewer who describe their understanding of their music with such explicit admiration as I do. You either get it, or you don't. But when speaking of our favorites, I suppose it's that way for all of us, no?
#1: Arcana - Inner Pale Sun
It's a bit of a shame because I consider the recording quality to be 3 stars. But for me, this is my absolute favorite artist of the last 100 years, and my favorite album by them. I get shivers, goosebumps, and tears from this album. Best listened to rarely and on special occasions, only when there's time, and with solemn reverie.
2nd to this would be
Electric Light Orchestra - Time
An absolute masterpiece of musical alchemy.
And
Depeche Mode - Violator
Lot of good songs on this album. Youth/nostalgia vibes.

I hope I've piqued the interest of some forum members with this list, and gifted them some gems to listen to if it is to their liking...

I really liked her last Ocean To Ocean. I'd liked but never followed her but it seemed the time to go see her. I got good tickets at The Greek in L.A. but then ended up out of town. OK we vacationed in Portugal, Spain, France, and saw Iron Maiden in Bilbao so it's not like I can complain, but I would have like to have seen that tour.
The latest album I now heard in full is Jethro Tull's Stormwatch bonus edition tonight, driving from South Central L.A. up through Beverly Hills to Mulholland Terrace.
I just listened to Tom Waits: Rain Dogs, with the immortal 'Hang Down Your Head'. 🙂

In the first novel I published there is a character going through the process of being born. In the margins of the text I make reference to the song "bells for her."
There is an atmospheric characteristic and mood to this song which is like the first timid steps into awakening - experiencing her first glimpses of awareness in this world.
I have not heard ocean to ocean. I think the last album I gave a serious listen was "boys for pele."
