How about using the HVAC vents as the cavity for the subwoofer?

In my house, there living room has a long run to the nearest plenum and is it's own zone... meaning there's a damper going into the plenum.

So that would give me a nice cavity for two 6" drivers side by side at the vent. I believe the "duct" is 10 inches round.

Of course, my wife might not like it.

Ever been to the Getty Villa in Malibu?

It's designed like a rich man's Roman Villa. With lots of columns. Doric, Corinthian, Ionic, Etruscan, Los Angelinium... you name it... All they need is a set of El Pipii ( plural for El Pipo ) to set up an awesome outdoor audio system.

Hmm... Corinthian columns for the bass, Ionic for the midrange, Doric for the tweeters and Etruscan to hide the Amplicatio Parasoundum.

But seriously, a pair of 7" nicely done columns, 10" wide, on each corner, might do the trick? It's one of those projects that I haven't yet done... like using the Sissy to drive an F4 ( got the parts, just not the time since I quit retirement... ).

I've driven past it a lot a few years ago, but not for a while. Your awesome outside sound system seems more in line with the eclectic mix of Hearst Castle - perhaps you knock something together to go around their outside pool. It would be a nice setting and less traffic noise too
