Agree 100%. They add an 'air' to the reproduced acoustics of, especially, large concert halls which is unobtrusive but significant in the illusion which we try to create with our wooden boxes and paper cones...In reality I think there is more than you might think to the low
Move a Lot of Air - GENTLY
A 2245H showed up 😎. Very impressive driver. Not bad price either, made me do some measurements - it's cruel, but I'm afraid I don't have the physical space for a B460 clone currently. Need a new house.
Of course, the B380 is a nice, 15" option... some nice clone builds around. https://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?35324-JBL-B380-Clones
Could this be tuned to go lower? ( I obviously don't know a lot about box tuning...)

The Little Brother to the JBL B460 is the B380, which measures exactly the same as the B-460 according to Greg Timbers.
The B380 simply will not play as loud at the B460 Building two B380's with JBL 2235's might be more achievable That said the only thing holding me back on either is the space!

To add another A-men to the discussion.
While at the Florida Audio Expo last weekend I visited a friend that has by far the best sounding system I have ever experienced. There are two of the largest J&L subs in the back of the room and two more in each front corner.. The subs are DSP'd and you are not aware of them being present. Nothing in the experience says sub-woofer or sub-bass; you are only aware of an uncanny sense of space.
None of that: The performers are in the room with you experience It's way more transportative a willing suspension of disbelief that takes you to the recording venue at a different place and time. That said, Charles only listens to acoustic sets, I doubt if he owns a single pop recording!
MOVE a whole lot of air gently!

That in a living room? Preposterous!Lii Audio is making a +40 inch subwoofer but I don't know much about it. Actually i don't know much about big subs like fostex 31 either, i mean the advantage or doing this compared to more "usual" ones like 15"
You need to go on avsforum.com. That's considered normal in that site.
Yeah, 8x18" underground 30ft long living room horn, no biggie! There are some SICK people there.
I recall seeing a photo of a house on which one entire living room wall was the mouth or a giant horn, and the 30-some foot long horn with driver unit resided in the back yard. Some how, the name Ed Blount (sic) comes to mind. Not sure on the spelling of the name.
I find this enclosure to be on the pretty side for a subwoofer.Hehe, I have more humble desires, for sure 🙂. I'd be happy reaching 25 in a nice way, the one musical piece I have containing 18Hz is not enough to go that far, and even 25Hz is rare in my music collection. I've been thinking about cloning this "baby", since it was designed as partner for my 250Ti's. They are impossible to buy, but finding a 2245H may be a challenge too. The box is big and I'm not in a hurry, so I'm still looking at options and educating myself. But 18" seems like the right choice 🙂.

Here's two different subs.
15" Cerwin Vega woofers in 3 cu ft sealed boxes. Used in a 12' X 12' building. They produce clean bass and plenty of it driven by a Carver TFM-25, but only go down to about 35Hz.
These are bucket subs used in the living room driven in series-parallel by a BASH 500 watt plate amp. Originally had them in a much smaller room with one in each corner and the bass was relatively even throughout the whole room.

I absolutely love the QSC RMX series of amplifiers.
Skating rink I DJ at has two QSC RMX2450 amps driving four subs with two subs in parallel and the amps in bridge mode.
Ran at nearly max power output of 2400 watts for a few hours every Saturday for almost 10 years without one single problem.
