I am about to receive a Sunfire Subwoofer Signature 12” version in unknown working condition (the red led at least lights up) to replace my smaller single 10”. I plan on replacing the shitty power supply capacitors immediately, I ask you is there anyway else I should beef up? Probably put in fresh +-12v or whatever is in there for regulators. Will I feel that 2700w in my gut vs the 500w? How the hell do they squeeze out another 2200w from that downconverter design? Is it more likely to fail vs its younger siblings?
I would expect the 12" version
to maybe be more efficient.
Might need less power.
As far as add copy that promotes
single speaker driver subs with over 1000 watts
ignored.
Since real listening is way way way
less than that.
and don't care cause the driver
wont do that.
Sure it will sound like a 12" sub
and reach the usual listening levels.
Remember this series having single passive radiator.
So fantasy and add copy are also there for peoples
curiosity
real world.
never owned a sunfire.
But owned countless powered others.
And dont expect much life of 7 to 12 years.
When the switch modes die. the woofer and boxes
go in the garage. For someone or me to tinker
with later.
It is nice that it has a designed and included highpass
filter.

The output potential of the 12" driver with it's passive radiator should be at minimum +4dB at 20 Hz over the 10" without considering the more than +6 dB peak power increase. Will I feel that 2700w in my gut vs the 500w?
You can expect it to sound or feel ~ twice as loud down low, if it works 😉 .
