Thanks that very helpful. I’ve just read that Javad is working on a version using the Textreme version of the woofer. Interesting!
You will never know if you like a speaker or not until you listen to it in your system. Other peoples ideas are just that. So Go forth,pick your speaker,build it and enjoy the fruits of your labours. Diy rules.
The Textreme Helios kit is currently available through madisound.com. I’m debating on whether to build it myself.Thanks that very helpful. I’ve just read that Javad is working on a version using the Textreme version of the woofer. Interesting!
The solstice is very nice, not cheap though..........
I am unsure if copper cap or shorting rings would be better than the morel cones (poly + talc powder I think).

Most of his designs are small speakers unless I’m mistaken; I built the Revolution mini and liked it, and within limitations of a 1/4” cu foot cabinet, it was good one; I think his “trick” was using a 4 ohm mid-woofer for good voltage sensitivity of around 85dB/2.83V/m, and getting the right bass/treble for medium levels, at least in the medium sized room I was living in at the time.
Did Jeff declare that he liked the Helios the most?
Was was it the bigger (biggest?) of his released designs? If this is the case, I find it that interesting. Coincidence?
In some photos you can see other speaker in the background, including a 3 way design with some bright coloured drivers. What this his reference?
The man, the legend. RIP.

No, it was not the biggest.
Pharos with Salk was awesome. 12" woofer.
Testarossas are floorstanders too.

He also designed the Helix MT and MTM for DIYSG. I’ve built the Helix MTM and I LOVE the frequency response and authority. They sound similar to my friend’s Perlisten towers, except with more bass and slightly more treble extension.Of 3;
Spirit Winds
Helios
Continuums (original)
Middle ground;
Tributes
Revolution (Mistakes I preferred, and not)
That said, these are no slouch;
Quarks
Dreydels
Mandolin
Piccolo (vented I preferred)
Sopranos
LIghtning
Dayton RS-MTM
There was a Morel MTM at one point, don't recall the name.
They’re not great at throwing a holographic soundstage though, and the vertical listening window requires you to have your head in a vice. I’m desperately trying to learn about the Helios’ vertical off-axis response and imaging and soundstage for this reason. In all other things, it seems like my perfect speaker.

I can’t even imagine….Javad said the Textreme easily goes down to low ‘30s at well over 100dB, and the passive radiator could be tuned even lower, but he never found the need to.
In the US you can still buy the "Caritas" two way kit, a budget speaker with a BC25TG tweeter and SB Acoustics woofer, for which Mr Bagby did the crossover.
$88pr for the basic kit.

Geoff, since Meniscus closed, unless the kits resurface, I don't think there is a place to purchase it.
The Caritas kit was showing on this website a week or so ago, but I tried the link just now and the page just says 'big things are coming up', not sure what that means.

I never knew you could get them there. However, I do know that weeks before Meniscus closed they were working on a new Caritas kit.
