RadioShack 3way car no box speakers

Looking for info on small 3way RadioShack car speakers. Found those in attic, making small box for them now.
Front looks like that pyle 3way wonder, you know which one i mean.
I could not find any info on RadioShack yet. They sound decent, no bass of course, but they will be used in garage from 150 Hz up.

Are you worried about excursion at that XO Point? These will likely be playing louder at times (assuming garage is a big space) unless you want these for just background music whilst breaking things and cursing. (That's what I usually do) 😀

Just background on the porch under the roof. They are tiny and will fit in the corner.

I made 3 speakers switch recently, so i will be able to control where signal goes. These are for party...two 18" woofers, four 6fe200 faitalpro mids, eminence apt80 tweeters.

Here is dats. Fs is 73Hz, impedance 8 ohm. I am building small open back enclosures from double wall readyboard. It will not be as strong as wood, but it will be stiff because of small size. I will not post pictures of unfinished speaker because hydroxy alex would snatch them and post them in ultimate open baffle thread.

I think i will measure in room response next from 150Hz up. I remember that i measured these very long time ago, and they measured well except tiny sharp dip notch. Will see.

Here is on axis 1ft from speaker, mic positioned infront of tweeter. Yup, you can see that sharp dip. Not sure whats going on there. This 3way has obviously minimalistic crossover, two caps, no wonder.

Ok, here is the reason for that sharp dip. Looking at phase, you can see very sharp change in phase. Likely the result of wrong polarity between midbass and first tweeter (not supertweeter). They did not bother to acknowledge that cap changes polarity. Well, for such cheap speakers for car...

Distortion is not that bad. After all, RadioShack advertised these only for 180 Hz to 20k Hz, 30 watts, at least thats what one youtube video showed on similar model. They do sound clean, plus they have this elevated highs, for more sparkly top.

This is not the first time i discovered that commercial speakers had wrong polarity in crossover. Remember monsoon thread? I fully optimized my own crossover, and discovered that with wrong polarity, phase not only goes haywire, but there was dip as well, which stereophile magazine noticed.
Btw, monsoons were gifted to my friend and he loves the sound. No wonder, i could live with those myself, i like planars.

Or they decided a narrow notch sounded better than a "shouty" 1600Hz peak.

That may well be what they did. Perhaps they auditioned it both ways and decided what sounds best.
Very sharp dips are known to be inaudible.
