I opened a Duelund capacitor, so you don't have to do that 🙂 I thought that Duelund capacitors are physically bigger than Jupiter Silver Foil -Vitamin-Q because they have more foil and are better quality, but I was wrong. I found a ton of epoxy instead. The manufacturer could fit to 15mm diam package as 0.01uF, But for some reason he did't. I wonder what the real size of 0.01uF.. Overall these are great capacitors, I have no complaints about the sound quality

Looks very hand made in Denmark. The edges of the foil sticking out could overlap. Strange that it is not trimmed more precisely.
I'm probably best saying nothing... I'll just think it instead.
Specialist audio is to small a business for one off specialist parts to be made (imo). Not enough demand... I'll say no more.
All very interesting.
Exactly what I thought although I would hope the actual foil cap is probably OK as it goes.Reminds me this picture...

Thats what you call “extended foil construction” - it reduces inductance. the two foils are offset from one another and then the leads are soldered to to all the ‘flappy bits” as opposed to just one point on the foil(s). Not unique to Dueland very common in foil capacitors.Looks very hand made in Denmark. The edges of the foil sticking out could overlap. Strange that it is not trimmed more precisely.
I get that they sell the product, but do they actually manufacture the cap itself? There have been discussions on various forums over the years, claiming that some audiophile cap brands are just rebadged ones from some much cheaper manufacturer.Duelund audio
They produce them themselves. There are numerous posts on social media where they got the matchines, also process of manufacturing etc.

That "epoxy" certainly has a strong contribution to the sound signature. Diyers have been doing similar experiments for decades, remember rehousing electrolytic caps into bamboo tubes?
So I did listening comparison between potted and naked foil capacitors. As a coupling capacitors. Naked foil sounded a little more natural, just a hair. The difference was so small that it took a long time to compare. Epoxy really doesn't do anything positive 🙂 Bigger package is just a marketing thing
https://www.dhtrob.com/impressies/elna_inhout_en.phpSome tube guy called Rob from the Netherlands or Belgium did the Bomboo sleeve thing to Blackgates as far as I remember.

Best,

This is correct, they purchased all the winding and other machinery from Jensen when Jensen closed down their capacitor arm of the business. They produce them themselves. There are numerous posts on social media where they got the matchines, also process of manufacturing etc.

Duelund may have preferred the sound with it potted.
The larger size is a drawback if viewed from a marketing perspective, as it makes them unsuitable for applications where space is limited. But the potting does fall in line with their design aims in combating vibrational effects.
I have used Duelund capacitors in the past and have some Silver Foil ones but not in my current system. I have opted for Jupiters in the past instead because of the smaller dimensions for a given value where space was a concern.
