🙂port farting
Two decades of discussion about sealed vs. ported on the internet - and nobody measured it.
Just loads of bragging about the best fart.
Best regards
Bernd
Dave, regarding your request to stop quoting, i am an old man and not anymore at my best to remember the exact wordings of the poster i reply too, so please understand i am really so used to quoting, it became a habit. But i fully understand your request, you are rigth it makes sense, in the future i will try to do better in that respect, tnx for pointing it outRegarding your post/reply.......it was a straw man argument and I don't respond to those.
Dave.
But telling me, that my statement, that below system resonance the power has to increase to rise the spl ....is a strawman argument you do not response too....just baffles me.....
Or is this strawman thingy related to something else i said?
Anyway, responding or not is anybodies choice, no problem with that and....hopefully.....no hard feelings...ok?.
An easy, if inelegant way to reduce heat problems to almost nothing with a sealed enclosure is to mount the driver 'inside out' with its magnet in free air.
If it's good enough for the car audio kids... 🤔

@jesburger2 Sorry about that. Here on DIYaudio when threads get past about 20-30 posts they drift way off topic and new discussions ensue.
There's no effective moderation here, so you have to filter through the best you can.
I understand you have Dirac already. Give it a try when you have your setup constructed and I think you'll have good results.
Dave.

I use 4x12" in sealed for my room and never had issues with heat. Even with movies. Of course reverse mounting the speaker would resolve any heat issue, but may introduce port noise.heat problems
Doesn't seem to be a problem in this push-pull system: https://hometheaterhifi.com/reviews...reisel-dxd-12012-dual-12-push-pull-subwoofer/... reverse mounting the speaker would resolve any heat issue, but may introduce port noise.
It also wouldn't impress guests as muchI use 4x12" in sealed for my room and never had issues with heat. Even with movies. Of course reverse mounting the speaker would resolve any heat issue, but may introduce port noise.
The bottom part of my main 'twin tower' speakers is a sealed bass & sub box.
The front firing woofer is 12", and the specially driven rear 15" sub is rear reverse mounted.
This way box volume is increased a bit and the 'ugliness' is out of eye shot 🙂

I decided to reverse mount this EV 15W because it has Chrome.
And the breakup above 1K is not as bad.

To take out guessing of temperature,
one can measure the resistance of the "cold" voice coil and, after playing music at levels of ones choice, the heated up "hot" voicecoil resistance and use the measuring results to calculate the average increase in temperature with help of the temperature coefficent.
Tempco of copper is 0.00391
Close enough is
Temp increase (deg) = resistance increase in percent (%) / 0.4

I have to vote otherwise, especially when threads get very long. We can directly read what is being responded to (the first poster might get the context but the rest of us could be like ?!?!). Now, only taking out only enough portion of the whole original post to make sense for the reply yes I gotta agree with that, slim things down.@gorgon53 I suggest to you (and everybody) to not quote posts in replies. Just tag the person you're replying to and the context will be understood just fine.
