Fostex FE206NV and ML TL (Martin King)

Good morning:
I'm back with the box design for my Fostex FE206NV.
Generally, the same boxes are recommended for the Fostex FE206NV as for the Fostex FE206E.
There is a substantial difference between both speakers.
FE206EN has a Qts of 0.19. FE206NV has a Qts of 0.26 which makes them more suitable for Bass Reflex boxes.
For this reason I will opt for an MLTL.
I was studying a design by the GREAT Martin King for a Lowther model that he later used, just changing the tuning of the box, with Fostex FE206E and Fostex FE207E.

http://www.quarter-wave.com/Project04/Project04.html (Lowther)

http://www.quarter-wave.com/Project05/Project05.html (same box for Fostex FE206E and FE207e)

The Qts value of the Fostex FE207E is identical to FE206NV, they only differ in the Fs (39hrz vs 44hrz).

Could I use the same box design for my FE206NV, turning up the tune a little?

I have done the simulations with BASTA!

Unfortunately I don't know how to use Hornsteps, could someone do the simulations for me with said software?

Thanks from Argentina and sorry for my english.

These are all horn drivers, so either tuned high for a high DF system or tuned low/Fs with some form of low DF system, so what do you plan to drive them with and if a high DF and wanting to tune low/Fs, then some form of series power resistance and/or some other form of EQ will be required, so what's your plan?

What about the rest of the numbers.

The FE206En is not well suited to an ML-TL. I have paid little attention to them, but i know that they are more suited to an MLTL but i would start from scratch.

the similarities of the FE206NV and the FE207E

I knew, from talking with Scott, that the NV had moved the FE206x closer to the FE207e, but i did not realize it was that close.

I’ve asked Scott to check it in Dmetri. It will work in Vulcan and likely into Joan. An ML-TL close to what an FE207 fits into is very probably but, while not as finiky as a reflex, rea less tolerant than many horns.

At this point, maybe better to do a T/S max flat and use a 25 ohm pot to dial in the necessary resistance to 'taste' in room and the amp's DF isn't sufficient, then either use tone controls and/or series resistance to make up the difference, ergo Vb = Vas, Fb = Fs, so all that's left is how high off the floor should the driver be?

You could check with MJK on his Facebook site but I thought he has shown if a driver performs well in a bass reflex it should also in a TL. Try modelling it in any case in your favourite software to confirm. While the gui of hornresp is initially daunting, it doesn’t take that much persistence to do basic things. A lot of help is given on the hornresp thread but it’s a good idea to read the help file in the help menu for any obvious things.

Attempted to interpret MJK pdf for cross section and length and location of driver and port. Might be some differences as MJK got a flatter response. I get the attached for the NV--E was similar. Volume is fairly large, maybe smaller would be flatter.

Thank you very very very very very very much!!!! Yesterday I was working all day with the file you sent me and I finally learned how to use Hornresp. Eternally grateful.
