Adum4166 USB isolator

This isolator is based on adum4166,It can be used on USB 2.0 audio,Support to dsd1024.

Seems to be a commercial product.
It's interesting and the price is small considering also the metal case.
However it seems that not all implementations sound the same and furthermore I don’t understand the 2 clocks in this one.

I've (a commercial) one that is on a PCB that is as small as a third of this and that I modified to attach it directly into the USB socket without using any cable.
I find that eliminating the cable (as short as it is) and 1 connector is just as an effective thing to (try to) improve the sound, at least here.

In my system 4166 sounds great, far better than 3160 and 4160 to my ears.

Just forgot to add that I also modified it to power it separately with a linear power supply and that I don’t use the PC, but a Digital Transport as source.

By the way, I think that (only my opinion) eliminating the PC from listening to your favorite music is itself a good step forward in the search for your own "better" sound.

Just sayin'...

There are not many cheap ADUM4166 on the market yet.

Cheaper with ADUM4166 (or supposedly using the ADUM4166), I found:

The two last are made on discretes components.
Schematics are pretty the same. FPGA - transformer - FPGA - USB hub. Hub always run at hi speed (480 mbps) so this is simple to communicate with it via isolator.

I have a problem with this USB isolator. I found it necessary to install the copper radiator plates on the FPGA-driver, but due to the mechanical removal of the marking, the surface of the chips was very uneven. I tried to sand the surface and broke one chip.

Maybe you know where I can buy such an FPGA chip, even with erased markings, so that I can replace it?
