Sony Discman Electronic Adjustment

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a little guidance regarding electrical adjusts for a D-303 as per the Sony Service Manual. This question likely applies to many devices.

Under the 3.5 and 3.8 volt adjustment sections, it states that one must "Perform X.XV adjustment with an AA size battery". What does this mean exactly?

My only guess is that the unit should be powered by battery instead of wall wart.

Thanks in advance for the help!

It does.

There is no reason these should need adjustment unless components in the switching PSU have been replaced and there is also the possibility that actually altering these rail voltages will then alter the alignment of the rest of the adjustments.

Measure them and if they are within 5% of their nominal values then I would leave them be and work on the basis that this is how they were originally set.

Has to be a translation error imo. They want the rails setting on what is probably the lowest 'normal' voltage source. There is nothing to stop you comparing the readings with it on rechargeable and AC though and seeing if there is a change.
