Wonder if anyone has come across this before, I just got one of these caps:
https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/40/ffve_ffvi-3162691.pdf
and it came with a dot marked by one of the terminals. Does anyone know if that indicates a preferential polarity, an outside foil or whatever? There is nothing written anywhere about it.
I noticed larger capacity Solen PP have a + indicator as well. Should that be taken as the preferential plus or high impedance side connection?
thanks!

From solen directly: + indicates the outerfoil. In a PPE of lower capacity, the outer is 'generally' at the right of the marking.
Hopofully the dot on the kyocera means the same thing.
Hopofully the dot on the kyocera means the same thing.
Seems to be the common under standing, where it’s placed depends in the ckt, on how it’s used, in some cases it might not make any difference at all
I am a very practical person and your post doesn't appear to contribute anything useful. Do you know what the dot on the kyocera means? Yes/no?
I am not 100% sure, ask Kyocera if they do not specify the info in the datasheet or tear a few apart and find out for yourself.

The Kyocera is listed as a polyester dielectric, so it is nonpolar. I would guess outer foil marked.
Thanks, it certainly wouldn't hurt to have the outer foil connected to gnd or the low impedance side, even if it's just audio freq. Maybe even BECAUSE it is audio, and we are all chasing the ultimate sound. 😉Hi Grataku,
