Just finished a pair of Klipsch Belles, using one inch euro birch ply, with American Walnut veneer. Seriously heavy.
Not adding the "v" shaped grills....and leaving the thick ply edges exposed.
I've added a larger access panel, which sits snugly within the 60mm tall plinth.
Crites 15-inch woofer is being used.
My mate has already built the Bill Woods 300Hz conical horn, with the metal throat assembly. (I will be making a new pair of horns in matching walnut ply.)
Fostex T900A tweeter will also be added.
Xover is interesting, using first-order, transformer, approx 500Hz to start with.

I was going to say, "Yes, I have always wanted to make a set of those". After seeing this great set, I have second thoughts. Yes, I can do woodworking well enough, but I can see that this is no simple project for guys like me. Then I see the horns. They look to be the equal of building your own violin. Just excellent work. Maybe I missed what other drivers are being used? Dam! You are quick. Question answered!
Thanks. I've been building Tannoy, JBL, Altec speakers for 20 years. Lately, using CAD CNC for the major cuts, including mitres. I'm fortunate to now work in a school, where I have access to the wood tech room. (See other small 3-way also being built.)

Awesome! What will be your midrange driver? Can you post the schematic of the crossover? Curious why you chose 500hz.
I'll check to see if we have a schematic. My mate is testing a first-order xover using a single transformer/coil. The 500Hz is a notional starting point until we do some testing. The Bill Wood horn will accommodate 500Hz easily, while the Belle will also be OK playing up to that range. Mid driver is B&C DCM420 (300Hz to 6kHz range, non co-ax model, hence the need for the Fostex super tweeter).

My mate reports that it is sounding very good, high efficiency, and good bass depth (given the design). He has a JBL 4345 with 18-inch bass drivers, run actively. These can be used to augment the Klipsch/Bill Woods rig.

When I was in high school shop, I was very fortunate to get a set of plans to make the Khorn. Yes, it was a big challenge for me, but I knew that it would be years before I ever had the resources again to do it. Now that I look at the Belle design a little closer, it seems that it has a horn loaded design similar to the Khorn. My point here is that the bigger horn had beyond astounding bass, and I would expect at least some of that to apply to the Belle design as well. Though corner placement certainly completed the Khorn response, it did quite well, even if not in a corner, well, maybe not the bottom octave but certainly there on up. What would be the bass extension of the Belle design?
