If Chopin and Debussy are favourites, I would definitely agree with whoever suggested Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words and Field's Nocturnes (Field invented the nocturne and Chopin picked up the idea... Chopin's have a lot more sadness/drama whereas Field's are almost entirely in major keys and focussed around melodies that are easily imaginable as vocal lines - just like Mendelssohn's Songs).
Many of Beethoven's 2nd movements in his Sonatas are quite melodic (often in menuet+trio form), as they sit between dramatic 1st and 3rd movements.

Often, out of curiosity, I search for particular music and performers on YT; there is so much interesting to find when you don't feel distracted by some deterioration of sound quality. I watch YT through my TV, audio is digitally out to my DAC and playback through my hifi gear; it works for me.Read Geoff's post above (#36). He pretty much proves the point that a purchased CD played on a high quality system is far superior to the exact same piece obtained through YT and played on a PC based system.
While CD playback is "far superior" (exaggeration in my view but let's agree on not agreeing...), that is not so important. What helps a lot is when you have a good degree of inner/mental hearing. Being an amateur classical wind player with orchestral and chamber ensemble experience, together with my professional career in professional and consumer audio, I dare to say that I know how live music sounds. That helps a lot in not being detracted, because my brains "fill in".
The professional musicians I know have mostly mediocre hifi systems and never complain about sound quality. Their inner/mental hearing is well enough developed to compensate, and they know and accept that reproduced music is far away from the real thing. That attitude might help many audiophools too.....

Wow, just listened to it. Thanks I think she'll love it. Made me think of some smooth moment from Copland Aaron in Appalachian Spring.
I think melodies as already said a member at the beginning of the thread is the thing. I could add : joyfull melodies. Though gregorian monks sing is also appreciated but I am looking for not calm that makes you sleep -typically Gymnopedies from Satie, beautifull but more for an evening- but "calm" as : no explosions à la Walkyries' ride act III from Wagner, melodic side that wake-up you by joy as a wake up of a sunny day, if I can try that description. Neurologic not agressiv wake-up of the classical music for brain simulation.

fantastic, exactly things I am looking for :
Thanks. I believe I will reccord a playlist with such tunes, à la GeoffMillar member's posts illustrations. Above tonality is really joyfull and melodic.

Pietas are "dark" by essence most of the time ?
Edit : just listened fastly on YT some moments... that's quite ok ! Btw some moments really look like OST from movies.

Not really dark, rather relaxing, but classical music "for the masses". A bit like Yann Tiersen, Arvo Pärt, Max Richter, which she plays on some CD's.
There are numerous articles on the Internet that discuss the poor sound quality from YouTube. Here is one of them:Often, out of curiosity, I search for particular music and performers on YT; there is so much interesting to find when you don't feel distracted by some deterioration of sound quality. This article like other similar ones discusses the lack of emotional satisfaction from music listened to from YouTube . Here is an excerpt from it:
"The change in sound quality matters since when the audio is compressed, the important details of the music, such as a guitar solo with high notes, will be lost or will not be audible compared to high resolution sound from a music CD. This prevents the audience from being emotionally engaged with the music, which gives a satisfactory feeling and feeds the brain. By listening to a high-quality sound from a proper device, one can get more satisfaction and content compared to a low-quality sound device. Music from YouTube is like fast food (4). It’s accessible, fast and compensates ones need for music but it is a short-term solution to get satisfaction."
When you need high resolution sound to be able to enjoy / get emotionally involved....fine for you. I also like to hear deep into the performance and recording but am not distracted when the reproduction quality is less but the performance grasps me. Generalizing this is a very elitist standpoint, actually it is plain ********."The change in sound quality matters since when the audio is compressed, the important details of the music, such as a guitar solo with high notes, will be lost or will not be audible compared to high resolution sound from a music CD. Lucky are the people also able to become emotionally engaged by listening to sub optimal music reproduction; disabled are people who can not enjoy / do not become emotionally involved listening to music through other than high end gear.
Once more (and then I will stop this discussion), perception of music is a subjective, personal thing. People can emotionally being engaged with genres of music I don't care for at all and vice versa. My neighbour can be totally satisfied (and emotionally engaged) by listening to music through his getto blaster...who am I to dismiss that??

This discussion has not been about the gear. It's been about the music source. So if you can become emotionally engaged with a sub optimal source just imagine how much more engaged and emtionally moved you could be with a better source. It can make a big difference.
And the idea that this is an elitist standpoint is just plain silly. The drivers for my DIY speakers cost less than $400 and my Denon AVR was about $500. Hardly elitist territory. More like budget friendly DIY.
