Hi all, I have built a Pi-based 3-way active crossover using CamillaDSP. However I do not currently have a manual volume control, and this is next on my list of improvements as it's not all that convenient to do it via CamillaGUI every time. I am wondering if anybody can recommend a nice-looking volume knob (black) that they've used on their own project? I did find some candidates on AliExpress but they tend to be more focussed on "value" and I want a more premium look.
I get them off AliExpress for very cheap. I get really nice solid aluminum black anodized knobs for like $3 each in a pack of 6. They have lots of sizes of shaft 6mm or 1/4” and diameters from 1” to huge. Shipping was cheap and fast to the US. It only took like 10 days. It sure beats $12 each for very similar knobs. Plus a knob is a knob not like a knock off piece of equipment.
Watch out for shaft size. Some are 1/4", some are 6mm, some are 1/8" etc.
Some are knurled.
Also if the shaft lacks a flat, you should have two set screws.

Single set screws work fine on a round shaft. Unless you really try to crank it past the stop on the pot, going for the '11' that isn't there.
As this will be controlled by an encoder there is no physical stop on the volume knob - turning the knob further will just stop increasing the volume past the maximum (set in software).
@mdpaudio - do you have a link to your supplier? I have ordered some smaller knobs on AliExpress where I didn't care too much, and as expected they felt cheap because they were plastic with a thin aluminium exterior. Not something you'd find on a commercial product.

My personal preference is the "Bakelite Knob Fester RCA black", different sizes available on tayda
Here are some manufacturers of knobs that may be of interest:

APEM - see attached PDF
Check their websites for distributors and it seems most of their products are available through Digikey and Mouser.

In other words you require a plain knob with no index mark. Which rather rules out: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pote...GbmabLI9Q_GmlY28ywAaAmbtEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.dsAs this will be controlled by an encoder there is no physical stop on the volume knob - turning the knob further will just stop increasing the volume past the maximum (set in software).
Actually a mark is fine, it just doesn't point to anything 🙂
This encoder would suit https://au.rs-online.com/web/p/mechanical-rotary-encoders/1675385?gb=b and I can use the inbuilt push-switch to trigger the mute function.
