What’s On the Bench Tonight (OBT)

In stereo now - this will really help with longer term listening to evaluate the crossover.

On the bench, It is software,
I wanted to write some Software but i needed some C++ 20 Support for some feature on Windows XP. MSVC 2017 was last one that support targeting Windows XP but lacks C++ 20 in proper way , MSVC 2019 is not supported. I was insane enough with my friend Barcode , planned to port whole LLVM CLang Toolchain to Windows XP so that we can have modern C++ support on Windows XP, be hold , LLVM 15 with Latest Clang Running on Windows XP SP3 x86 and Visual Studio 2010 Professional, it literally took 6 months but result is worth it.
Nothing is outdated and no software is ancient specially not Windows XP with 19 yrs of Bug Fixes and Patches.

Hi X,

My Desktop with i7 3770K have a XP partition , it is brutally fast , 10 feels like Snail in Comparison [Still Very fast]

On Laptop , it is mainly on my VM due to lack of display driver even though it luckily had Legacy Mode in BIOS [rare for Ryzen 7 4800U Laptop, Thanks Asus] , i think only ThinkPad are only one with CSM support left on planet Earth

Honestly it is nostalgic for me , as i have been using XP since my childhood. Lot of my software dont run on anything newer than XP so their u go.

Who doesn’t have spare passive speakers sitting around unused?

On the prototype bench is a new product that turns any spare speaker into a stereo Bluetooth 5.0 speaker with TWS and up to 50wpc into 4ohms. Presenting the Vera-Link Amp from Vera-Fi Audio. TWS provides independent left and right channels with no wires between the two channels. Only 12-24vdc power in is required. Velcro holds it to the back of any speaker.

3D model ready to go to manufacturing:

Testing on back of my 10F/RS225 FAST::

I’ve been listening to it all day and it sounds great. So convenient to play tunes from my phone as I work around the house. Also, a small 12v Li-ion battery pack will power it all day without any wires to a wall plug. Great for pool parties, picnics, camping, BBQ’s, home repair sessions away from your main rig, etc. Super easy, reliable and foolproof BT pairing with your smart phone.

You like to live dangerously! 😀

I have been fascinated lately by the idea of putting chipamps in parallel - here is younger brother of LM3886, LM2876 in parallel. I was lucky to get my hands on one of those QA403 audio analyzers, so it has been fun!

On the bench tonight is the HyperDrive-2 headphone amp getting measured for specs to go along with a review article. The headphone amp is making some nice numbers. The distortion at 293mW (loud) into 33ohms is 0.0055% THD with dominant second harmonic and monotonically falling higher orders.
HD-2-HPA-8.8Vpp-33ohms-FFT-E88CC.jpg

And here is the noise floor with inputs shorted, it is -122dB relative to 1.0Vrms at 0dB:

Basically a very quiet and clean headphone amp/preamp that will impart a nice SE Class A harmonic profile without adding too much distortion.
