That is the official SB Acoustics goal - to improve a little bit on the ADC, with the oxidized layer, no?
SEAS tweeters generally have pretty low distortion, sadly, no SEAS distributor in Aus.
That said, if you chose the right SB tweers, they're pretty good too

I prefer the 27TAC to the CDC and ADC, but I do like the CDC quite a bit. I've used the Titan twice now.
Yes, sb acoustics sells those as better when it comes to quality (just check the write up at the sb acoustics bromo kit) so for few bucks extra you keep your head clean from questioning your decision.You're saying that SB26CDC is better than SB26ADC for starters?
27tac has lower inductance and I would like to try it. I have sb26cdc at the moment and it is among my favorite tweeters, but my guess is that the 27tac would be little better.
I also would like to add that the sb26cdc can be used at the somasonus waveguide. That is a big plus in favor of the sb.
Could you tell what you like more about it? The features or the actual sound?I prefer the 27TAC to the CDC and ADC, but I do like the CDC quite a bit. I've used the Titan twice now.
It sounds very open and clear when used properly. It is also very low distortion. It is the closest thing to the old Dayton RS28A in sound, but yet a little better still. That said, I used it once with top-end peak notched, and one without. I feel it's discernable, but just barely, as it just sounds minutely cleaner notched. Since it has no ferrofluid, the Fs has a large peak that needs nuked. I used LCR notches in both cases here. I had it xoverd at 1.8k LR4 in one, and 2.5k LR2 in the other.
I have no idea why you think it's like the DA25TX, as they are very different tweeters.
The TX was a tweeter that was very similar to the older TLabs tweeters; Corundum dome, large chamber, low Fs, and strong ferrite magnet. This keeps 3rd HD low, but allows for a little 2nd without using shorting rings. I think the TX had a ring in it, which made it a really good performer.
To find a similar tweeter to the TX currently is a hard chore. The Eton ceramics are gone, as they are going OEM only. TLabs has been gone, but Meniscus may have a pair left (just checked, one Beryllium, and one CR2). The TB 25-1719 went large MOQ, so basically NLA. Based on ceramic domes alone, this leaves the SB 26CDC, Visaton KE25 (Mouser sells it), and the varieties from Accuton to my knowledge.
To say a metal dome is like a Corundum is kind of short sighted, as the Corundum pushes the breakup higher than standard metal domes, short of Be. Alloys can still be great sounding like the 27TAC, DXT, etc.

The ScanSpeak 9800 aluminiumm had good reviews but I can't testimony with it... low Xmax though. Too much expensive those days cause the SB Acoustics' and Seas'.
Peereless ?
Peereless ?
I meant in terms of bang for the bucks. Comparable with tweeters costing much more, performance-wiseI have no idea why you think it's like the DA25TX, as they are very different tweeters.

IIIRC, the RS28A was made by Usher back when they were "inspired" by Scanspeak designs. Some thought the RS28A was sort of a scaled up 9800. OTOH, SBA was founded (I mean as separate from Sinar Baja) by engineers from Scanspeak, and the SB26ADC looks a lot like the 9800 I used to own. Small world... I liked the 9800 a lot, but determined the RS28A was just as well behaved for much less. I have only just started to listen to a single design with the SB26CDC, but I expect it to be similar to the old 9800 given its lineage. I think of it as a 9800 that moved manufacturing to Indonesia so it could be made much cheaper.
In general, prolly the SB if cost is the same. However, the DX will reach lower if applied carefully. It depends on your application.Another question - sb26stc vs dx25tg59 for the same price? which one would you choose?
No planning lol
Just getting the urge again to stock up on new stuff, without any real plans on how to use them...

I already have 10 sets of speakers on hand, so yeah.. new projects can wait
Just enjoying getting new drivers and thinking about projects

@wolf_teeth
In terms of gems like the Peerless DA25TX, what other drivers were you glad you bought, (or wish you did) now that they are NLA?
831882? 830883?
835016/7, 830845?
Others?
@augerpro - how did the 831882 measure/sound?
I don’t miss Dynaudio, but I’m sure going to miss Peerless.
Top value woofers IMHO. Even more so now that the Taiwanese made Dayton Audio Reference series are more expensive than the Chinese made Tymphany.
I don't have GAS, but a bit prone to FOMO.

- SB26CDC vs SEAS 27TAC/GB? Why choose the SEAS?
