Infineon MA12070 Class D

As said: a wrong laymen technique leading to nothing but added issues. You don't reduce gain at the outputs.
If you have the headroom from your amp and you want the lowest noise at your tweeters then of course you do. Preferably with an autoformer. A series R would be second best - tweeters don't much care about damping factor.

(I'm assuming a fully active system where the tweeter has its own dedicated amp.)

The output filter won’t function as designed as the load is part of the filter.

What about choosing a less noisy amplifier combined with reduced gain? Too effective/efficient!?

The Chipstar likely won’t be the ultimate in desired performance. Ah what are we debating? 🙂 Wanting low noise from a 26 US $ costing ChiFi switching device to drive very high efficiency horns. Maybe a small power non switching amplifier is better for that task.

How is it going? Do you have a link to the product?

Havent had time to try it yet. I bought it on Aliexpress but Ive seen see it on ebay. I cant find the link but its a BRZHiFi MA12070 MA1. I paid about £25 plus another £18 for a 19V
power supply

Yes!

I'm playing for the moment on this Lm1875 - it sounds quite nice.

I'm was also hypnotised in the Pass sub-forum to build a ACAmini which I'm waiting parts for. I will then setup a contest driving my HF section between:

  • ACAm
  • MA12070
  • LM1875
  • Ayima 07 (Ti)

//

Even Class D will distort way less than ACA (mini) 🙂 ACA also farts at power on/off as it has no protection relay but maybe the horns like distortion and plops. It is all about perceived quality and facts... well those are not important.

A lot has been written in this very thread on the BRZ HiFi so you have some reading to do. It benefits from quite some changes that were described in detail (think individual components, oh oh).

I dug the modded BRZ HiFi, then moved up to the Aiyima A8 because j-p likes it so much. Mods on that are beyond my skill level. It was OK. I'm now using Eric.A's 150Wx2 module which sounds best, but the gain is set ridiculously high so has to be tamped down all along the digital signal path.

“Because JP likes it so much.”

Worst thing to do really but it made me chuckle 😉 What is the Eric A. 2 x 150W module?
I'm glad u got a kick out of that 😀 Eric's amp is at the vendors bazaar https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/2x150w-amp-module-for-sale.388868/latest I have the FFA001_V3 with in/out board; it was before the mounting plate was available or I would've gotten that too. It was ~ $65 shipped to US. Compared to most ali-ex offerings based on chipthis is a monster amp. Solid with many discrete parts and power supply built in.
