Hi Folks,
I've got some Pluvia 7.2HDs that I need to make some surround sound satellites from.
I, unfortunately, have a very small footprint I can give these due to WAF.
My total volume I can fill is 210mm x 160mm x 790mm.
I tried to find a nice little TL that might work, but all the ones I have ready access to: TABAQ & plans on the Mark Audio website, all seem to be about 830mm tall.
On the MA website, there is a sealed stand mount that is a 15.23L total internal volume that has a perfectly adequate tuning for satellites, but I need to morph the dimensions to fit my footprint. So the crux of the matter:
If I take a 160 x 238 x 400mm internal sealed box and morph it to be 136 x 180 x 622mm (15.22L) will I likely run into issues with resonances and half wave formation?
I might be drastically overthinking this.

210mm x 160mm x 790mm
Assumming 18mm wood> 21 litres. Way big for a reflex.
This box could be massaged to use your width and depth: http://frugal-phile.com/boxlib/P10free/CGR-dPlu-Ken7HD-0v81-240123.pdf
For surrounds the extra LF extension that a TL would give are likely superfluous.
MicroTower is a tiny bit to tall: http://frugal-phile.com/boxlib/microTower-maps-020615.pdf

If they're for surrounds, do you need much bass? If you don't need much bass, you can shrink them down a fair amount.
Or... the Compact Floor Stander is very close to your constraints. 206 X 188 X 780

Given it is for surround use, it could lose the front 5° tilt-back and end up being a tiny bit<160mm depth. It has similar response to the CGR i posted above.

This thread you've linked are the Pluvia 7s rather the 7.2HDs that I have. Not sure if there is a huge tuning difference between them. But thanks for pointing that out, it sparked a thought indeed. If they're for surrounds, do you need much bass? If you don't need much bass, you can shrink them down a fair amount.

I do have the CGR plans (obviously, thanks Dave 😉) and I had forgotten about the compact floor stander option. I might try and massage the golden ratio box dimensions into the compact floor stander shape, because the size "fits" close enough to my brief and the CGR alignment would be nice to have. I know you (Dave) haven't worked on making them in the compact floor stander due to lack of demand. This box could be massaged to use your width and depth: CGR-dPlu-Ken7HD-0v81-240123.pdf

Thanks for the replies gents.

Fixed the link to the CGR, it is specifically for P7HD.
This is the one for the P7 for reference: http://frugal-phile.com/boxlib/P10free/CGR-Plu-Ken7-15-030216.pdf

Thanks, looks like you changed the vent spacers since I received my copy. You stipulated a single 60mm centre spacer in my version.Fixed the link to the CGR, it is specifically for P7HD.

Actually looking at it in comparison it's nearly completely different in dimensions. I have Classic GR Plu-Ken7HD ov8.
I'm part way through building two of my version, I'm assuming the revised version is more accurate?
Cheers
Mitch has reminded me that there is also a larger CGR for P7HD (part of the paid planset) but that would exceed your width/depth but could be warped into a shape that works.
Note that the Compact Floorstander is 13 litres (i have a trick to make it less volume but the extents remain).

Sealed is a 1/2 WL resonator, so 34400/2/62.2 = ~276.53 Hz fundamental notch, but the box ratio isn't nearly high enough for these to 'stand proud', audibly modulating the driver, i.e. has a 'good enough' ~uniform particle density.
Seems like it does quite well as sealed for a satellite at 9L. 87Hz Fsc with a nice gentle slope off seems quite reasonable. Thanks for modelling and posting that Dave.
But, am I reading you correctly Dave that you’ve got a Compact Floorstander designed already for the Pluvia 7.2HD?
13L and roughly the dimensions seen previously would probably work ok. I’m still tossing up using the pluvias across the front LCR as well and keeping them matched using the floorstander would be a nice bonus.

Pretty much. Just needs some details tidied.

Ah. I think I’ll build the floorstanders then!Pretty much. Just needs some details tidied.
Will have the larger CGR versions for the Pluvias complete except finish today. New speaker day!
